I was reading about Surefire flashlights the other day when I cam upon this new Streamlight! THis light come sin 2 and 3 cell versions, as well as with incandescent or LED. Both the LED and incandescent boast huge lumen output, good runtime for a tac light, and a great size. And they come in green or black! Anyone have one? What is the beam quality like? Are they nearly as bright as advertised?

See Brightguy.com for more stats.

I got to play with them at SHOT. I think these were show prototypes or sample, but they seemed to be of good design and quality. I have not yet been able to put my hands on a retail model yet.

My prime concern with the new series is that they are made overseas. I hope that Streamlight has gone to the lengths necessary to ensure the reliability and durability necessary for a light marketed to LEOs and other First Responders.

I've had a TL-2 (non-LED) for almost a week. Great little light. Excellent beam quality, which is focusable, but some beam quality issues when fully de-focused. Uses the same bulb as the Scorpion. Also, the Lumen Output stated is overblown. I'd put the output at roughly 60 lumens, about equal to a Surefire 6P.

Build quality is excellent.

The NF and TL series are USA made. The TwinTask series are made overseas.

Yep, figured that out shortly after posting my concern. Streamlight had told me via e-mail about 2 months ago that these were being manufactured overseas, but I bet the rep was assuming my query was regarding the TwinTask.

Saw a NF-2 in the package today, and sure enough, there is a little American flag on it! Unfortunately the packaging could not be opened without cutting the clam pack, and this dealer did not have a display sample.

Looking forward to handling a production model.

Thanks Dano! I saw your post on Candlepowerforums. I lurk there :) Maybe when I get some mor elights (I have a Pelican super pelilight and an Inova X5t) I may join in the fun! Right now I was considering Surefire E2e, G2, M2, C2, or L4. But I think that for my needs and budget right now, the Streamlight is perfect. I didn't believe the reported lumen output, but I figured that if the lumens were around 60 and the bean quality was good (flashaholic good, that is), then I couldn't pass on a TL-2. I'll get one in green!

Thanks again Dano, and to you AUX for your input. I welcome more info as you have it.

Crayola, go for the G2. It's one of my favorite SFs.

Is the Twin Task the combo LED and incandescent? I just saw one a couple of days ago. The dealer opened the pakage for me and stuck some batteries in. It had a two stage switch which was a little annoying because it was a fairly small button on the side of the light. Also, you had to cycle through the two choices to get to the one you wanted. In other words, click incandescent, click off, click LED, click off, etc. Still, at $29.95 I thought it looked like a reasonable thing. I'd prefer to see it made in USA though.

Thanks for your suggestion Peter. Originally I was looking at the high quality aluminum Surefires (C2, M2, E2e, L4), but then I "downgraded" my searchings and I thought I would get a Surefire G2. However, for like $15 more I can get an aluminum light, a pocket clip, and a spare bulb in the streamlight. I am glad that there is more choice on the market for lights. We'll see what I end up buyign when I get my flashlight funds together.

P.S., yes, the Twin Tasks are the led/incandescent lights. I have heard them described as being a poor man's A2 :) The A2's quality is best, but for the price the twin task is great. So I hear anyway. Just for clarification of course, the light I am interested in is not the twin task, but Streamlight's new 2 lithium cell tac lights that are more like a Surefire E2e or C2.
