Just got my first Strider. A SNG Spearpoint in black G-10. I have to admit I thought I was getting the flamed ti but it turns out its plain Jane. A little disappointing. Seems pretty solid. No blade play, reasonably sharp. A bit austere. Not sure If I should keep or trade for what I was expecting. It was the last SNG from the distributer I went through so they arent an option plus they charge a restocking fee. Oh well....

Wasnt sure it was authentic at first so I called Strider. Its the real dea. They dont mark the Hinderer device any longer or Bos stamp the blades...or serialize them for that matter. No nonsense...even came in a plastic bag!

Strider doesn´t BOS stamp them any more because they aren´t heat treated by Paul Bos anymore.
After Gen3 there were no serials, either. You have Gen 6
Maybe you should have asked the dealer instead of "expecting"?
Contact me if you decide to sell it...

Ti flaming is just decor. Mine is fading with the harsh use I give it.

You will love this knife, especially for tough chores, and in inclement weather, or with work gloves on, you will find no other knife as easy to use. The bead blast finish shows less wear, and some think it is less tackycool, which can't hurt. Try using the extra choil on smaller chores, you will find a lot more fine control other knives can't deliver.

It's not a SAK pen knife, use it for what it's made for.

That is a pimp blade, I wanted to have a stone wash Strider SnG but all I got was flaming and stripes. But you got your hands on a sweet knife.

That is a beautiful SnG!
I actually prefer the 'plain Jane' (stonewash) version to the flamed titanium-type SnGs.
They're both pretty, but if you want a folder for hard use that won't let you down, you picked one of the best!

One word of warning:
After you start using your new Strider, you'll be hooked with addiction and want more! :)

Regards,
Mike

It's very similar to my SnG , except mine is heat colored. I wanted the stonewashed blade so I jumped on it when I found one.

If your not pleased then you should get exactly what you want ( especially in that price range).

Congrats on the Strider Dave. Looks like you already have a few willing to "relieve" you of the SNG should you so desire. I believe I would keep and use it, the simple and plain look is a statement in it's own right!:)

Don't you just love those stonewashed SnG's, I have a greenie. They seem more shepple frendly, I like them over the "flames".
After you use it a while, let us know how it holds an edge. Heard of some with less than normal in edge holding.
Nice Knife!

Thats a good lookin' knife there, akadave2. It will look even better after you personalize it with some wear and tear.

Since I never miss the chance to post a pic, here's my SNG:

The SnG is a great knife. I carry a DDC SnG CC everyday and it's a joy to use! Have fun!

I understand...its just the pics they posted were with the flamed Ti. I have no plans to get rid of it. Its my first Strider...hopefully the first of several!

Thanks for the comments guys!

I certainly wouldnt. Ive seen people buy guitars that are advertised as AAAAA flamed maple and it comes in and its just absolutely the most beautiful, subdued top youve ever seen and these people are absolutely livid that they have just got one of the finest peices of wood I have ever seen. That is a nice, nice looking knife and I suggest you hold on to it.

Why not contact Strider and ask if they can refinish the Ti?

I do know one thing...it wasnt very sharp. Had to work on the bevel near the tip. the 40 degree angle of the Sharpmaker didnt seem to want to sharpen that section. So broke out the diamond stick for the sharpmaker. Its better but could still use some more work.
