New strop loading suggestions

Just bought a new strop and some diamond spray to see what results I get with it. Would you guys recommend loading the spray onto the smooth leather side or the rougher canvas side? Or perhaps both? Also in what succession should I use them in?

I myself would probably use the smoother side but I no longer use a strop that often, so take that with a grain of salt. Also, it depends on if you're going to use both sides in succession, which grit you left off at from the stones, etc.

The smoother side most likely. The roughness from the suede side might over-power the spray and do more honing than the spray itself, especially once you get into the really fine grits.

What grit is the spray?
