I snagged another Scott Cook Owyhee Hunter a week or so ago. It is a Large one, made recently (last month). It has Full Grip "Black Linen Micarta" handles.

I have one made in 2001, with the same handle material. Here it is:

The new-style has a few differences, such as a thinner blade (0.13 inches compared to 0.15 inches), different contouring of the handles, three larger handle pins (instead of six smaller ones, with three at the front and three at the rear), no lanyard hole, and no thumb ridges on the blade spine. Fit and finish is the same, meaning superb.

I saw the new style on one of the distributors sites. I'm not sure I like it, although I have yet to handle one.

I've got one of the older style large Owyhee hunters in Ironwood as well as my custom drop point.

I handled the new style at a dealer's table this weekend. The new handle sculpt is more comfortable in the hand than I remember the old one being. I like that it's a thinner blade, but I do miss the spine grooves and the smaller pins.
