Is the new style Umnum pivot just as strong as the old style? I really like the old style a lot, though visual difference would not deter me from purchase if new style is just as 'robust.' This has probably been asked in the forums before, but why the change?

I don't own both so I can only report what I've read. The inner diameter of the pivot bolts are supposedly the same, and should be the same strength.

The advantage of the new pivot is that it can be adjusted with a standard tool.

It's also the same pivot on the Sebenza 25 so they don't have to keep producing 2 different kinds.

The "old" pivot looks "cooler" (to me) but its also a pain in the arse to take down.

Show me someone who has an umnumzaan with a pivot that failed (new or old) and i'd be shocked to say the least. I have one with an old and new pivot. More of an aesthetics/ ease of take-down thing as others have mentioned. Both have pivots that are more than substantial for any conceivable use of the knife. IMO

Thank you all very much for your responses and answers. The information is welcome, and after Christmas...ZAAN TIME!
