New Subcom - Concern

I just got a new Subcom in the mail today and really like it but ...

How deep should the lock go in? On mine, while it locks up, it only engages about halfway. In other words, half the liner lock is on the blade and half is off. Now if I push it in, it will engage completely, meanining the blade and lock line up evenly.

Should I be concerned? Is halfway "normal"?

By the way, even at halfway it seems to be enough to hold the blade locked, but is this safe enough?

Thanks,
DB

It's a frame lock, not a liner lock, and half way is usually fine for a frame lock.

I don't have my wharcom or subclaw handy, but I'm almost positive neither fully engage.

Sorry for the mix-up on my part. In my haste to post I failed to pick that up in my proofreading. Thanks for your reply as well.

I'd still like to hear from other owners, too.

It's fine. You're talking about a small knife that you won't be putting nearly enough pressure on in any normal use to defeat that lockup. Liner locks and framelocks can move over with time or sometimes even with a hard opening -- which is hard to do with a Subcom. :)

I just flicked mine open and it also locks about 50%, and I know it's been a reliable user.
