I've created a new parent category under the Community section called "The Great Outdoors". Since most of you have probably bookmarked W&SS, it won't matter, but there are some changes you should be aware of:

Hunting & Fishing is now under TGO
W&SS is now under TGO
There is a new outdoors gear subforum where you are expected to take all of your survival equipment, knives, and various gear discussions to. W&SS is for SKILLS, not GEAR.

Thanks for your support.

Yay! :)

I hate to sound like the only crybaby here, but man it just seems like this forum is subforum happy. Don't get me wrong, this is probably my favorite forum, but there are a lot of subforums.
96, not counting archives. Just saying...

Not a fan of separation but I'll live with it.

Plus I feel that the description at the top of the main page needs changing as it clearly states gear is meant for WSS.

Just noticed a fire drill thread already got moved, how is that not WSS related?

What say we start an "Indoors" forum for beer drinking, video games, and household related items? Yay!

JGON?

Cool, now if I catch a fish with my new shaimano rod and reel and start a fire
to cook him , I can post it in three different forums.

This is what I proposed a few weeks back regarding the future of the W&SS Forum.

1. A name change of the forum to "The Great Outdoors". This forum would be used for general outdoor threads such as hiking, camping pics, travels, etc.

2. The addition of 2 sub forums in The Great Outdoors, those being...

Outdoor Skills - Discuss shelter setups, fire starting, navigation, etc.

Outdoor Gear - Discuss the knives, bags, tools, clothing and gear that keep you alive.

3. The addition of Rick Marchand as a Moderator of this renamed forum. I think he will be a great addition to the mod staff. He is well liked and is a very outgoing outdoors individual who can bring his own experiences and expertise to the forum.

Not so, you will need to pick the single appropriate forum for posting.
Duplicate posting in multiple forums is against the rules.
