New Sun Liberty Pouch vs Rhino Skin

I recently purchased a Rhino Skin Aluminum Slider case to protect my Handspring Visor Delux. I've been looking at the Liberty Pouch as something to make it easier to carry my Rhino Skin around with. New Sun's website says that the "closed dimensions" for the Liberty Pouch is 3.5" x 5". My Rhino case is 3.4" x 5.1" -- darn close to the same size. Does the Liberty Pouch have enough "give" in the flap for the Rhino case to fit?

I know I could go up to the Satellite or Expedition Liberty pouches, but they're bigger than I think I need. . . .

While we're on the subject, does anyone have any experience at all with any of the New Sun stuff? I've been slobbering over the site for awhile (http://www.newsungear.com), and can justify to myself a new toy at this point. I've been specifically looking at the wallets (G-3, mainly), and the liberty pouch.

Anyone have any input?

NewSun Gear is very, very well built. I’m not a PDA user yet so can’t vouch for fitting the rhino in a Liberty, but the flap has plenty of give, it is a full length fold-over so a couple of a tenths of an inch shouldn’t be a problem.

I have the G3 and another one of the hanging wallets, just haven’t given them a try yet. I’m very happy with the Liberty, and think the Satellite is another good design.

A good place to find NewSun online is Triple Aught Design. Brigade Quartermaster has some items as well, but Patrick is a great guy to do business with and gets all the best toys.

any other thoughts from anyone? Surely, some one here uses the wallets/pouches and has some input.

Thanks.

I have the New Sun Liberty Pouch and like it a lot. I think it will fit the PDA/Rino case (will be tight). You won't be able to put anything else in the pouch though.

You might consider just putting the PDA in it by itself. I think with the Rino case, the look might be too bulky IMO.

Hey, I paid $50 for that Rhino case! I'm gunna keep using it! ;)

Seriously, I got the hard case because I got my new Visor to replace my (ancient) Palm Professional, which gave out from being dropped one too many times. I don't want to bust my Visor! So I got the strongest case I could find to protect it!

I don't care if I can't fit anything else into the Liberty Pouch along with my Visor. Heck, I'd almost just want to mount a belt clip my Rhino case to secure it, except that shiny metal is anything but unobtrusive . . .

Well, I went ahead and purchased a Liberty Pouch (from the guys at Tripple Aught Design -- thanks guys!) and though I'd update anyone who's interested in how it worked out for me.

The Pouch is plenty wide for my Rhino case; I could slip a fat pen or a mini-maglight or something next to it in the pouch.

The Rhino case is really a bit too tall for the Pouch, though. The flap is just long enough to go over the Rhino, with about a quarter-inch of velcro holding it closed. I figure I could sew another half inch of loop-side velcro on the pouch; there's enough room. That'd make it close more securely.

All in all, I'm happy with the Liberty Pouch. Were I to do it again, I'd probably get the next larger size pouch from New Sun, though.
