Jim, Good call on the post. I like where your going with this. I sent you an email.

Thanks for sharing. I like where you’re going with this. 4 inches is a true Super BEAST! I think the IKBS is excellent and you are also staying true to the original style of the BEAST. A low ride pocket clip is a must. I wish I could have handled an original to make a more in depth comparisons.

On this model you want to stay thick. The .185 Blade in S35v and .125 Ti handle is awesome! Also, if you can keep it at the $300 price point or $325 will make it stand out from the competition. When I first heard it was $250 that got my attention. I understand with the IKBS upgrade taking it to $300 is justified.

To be able to purchase a Custom War Horse of a folder that is Sand Box proven for $300-$325 is amazing! I hope it can stay at this price point?
I'm excited!

Wow, that's a beast, very nice. This looks like a very solid design, I'm liking the IKBS idea.
The pommel end of the handle looks kinda aggressive though, maybe round the edges slightly for comfort and ergos.
Nice work

Looks like a real beast all right! Is this knife definately going to be manufactured?

Just my opinion, I would second 5.56's suggestion of rounding out the butt edges -something along the lines of the AGR Acies- and I would also think that a little more jimping might add to the overall design?

Aside from those suggestions the only other thing I can think of is a slight tweek of the blade grind.

It's not clear on the drawing, is the blade a recurve? I'm not a big fan of recurves because they are difficult to sharpen. I would much prefer to see a traditional grind but that's just my own preference. Someone else might chime in that loves them.
Other than that it sure does appear to be aptly named. Good job and good luck with this.

The sketch looks good. I really like the overall shape of the blade and handle. I would assume that the wavy grid like texture will be added to the front scale. I would leave the lockside scale smooth for ease of placing in and getting out of the pocket. The clip should be able to be placed in the tip up or tip down configuration. I agree with what was said before me about rounding off those very angular corners on the butt end of the handle. It looks like it is going to be saber ground. While I like a saber grind, I am more of a fan of a high hollow grind. I do believe on something like this that is going to be larger and made to be used hard that the saber grind would match perfectly though. Double thumb lugs are a must. The clip doesn't necessarily have to be a deep pocket carry clip, but a full inch of the knife shouldn't be hanging out either. Adding IKBS to this knife would make it that much sweeter.

I would definitely be interested in purchasing something like this. I love me a knife with a 4" blade. I really love a Ti framelock with a 4" blade! I really, really love a Ti framelock with a 4" blade and IKBS!! :D

Yeah, I want one. If the price is in the $350 - $400 area I would definitely be interested in purchasing one.

The looks like a great work horse folder. With the textured ti handles it would feel very beefy and solid which is excellent. The blade length is my personal favorite length for folders. The swedged clip point is great and with an excellent steel like s35v it would be an absolute monster. The selling point for me is hands down the IKBS, i own a couple knives with that system and it is just flawless, great idea. At that price point? put me down for one.

Thanks for posting and checking it out and giving your input from my pm's guys. I think Jim has a winner!

Looks great! Like BP Green mentioned; I don't like recurves either. Not sure if it was just the drawing, but I think more people will like it without a recurve. The IKBS is a nice touch. Sign me up for one.

Thrill, I was wondering when you were going to show up for the party. ;)
This thing is sweeeet!

I checked out the 3" Beast a little while ago and it showed a lot of promise. I think a 4 incher would be very impressive but its going to be a challenge to keep the weight down.

I have a 4 inch all Ti framelock and its a heavy mother.... and it has plenty of weight reducing holes drilled in the scales! ;)

Each folder is hand made, we are not a manufacturer. I can position the clip anywhere you want.

The butt end was shaped like that at the request of some rather hairy folk. Wanted a "Knocker" end. Some engineering challenges have revealed. Ti has characteristic of galling and deforming under load. Centering a blade this big with the IKBS is a tough one. May have to house the bearings. Making a rounded mill end to make a cupped seat this morning. The 2-56 screws may not take the load. Redoing today with 4-40 for the spacers. This has changed the size of the spacers and now must raise the stop to clear. Redo thumb stud and relieve the ramp.

We have opened and closed about 1000 times. Wear is showing on the lock face due to the mass and rotational load of the blade. If it is flipped open the lock bar deforms. Cutting new wider bar today, may use a small internal rib.

Back to work, put the coffee on. Thank you for the support and interest.

After reading the OP the first thing I thought of was maybe you should make the lock bar wider to handle such a long and beastly wide blade. What about the thumb studs also being blade stops or have a pin through the ti with a rubber O-ring around it kind of like the CRK Umnumzaan to soften the blow of the massive blade.

Or maybe you just keep the beast at 3 to 3.5 inches and make the tactical a 4 incher?

I had and enjoyed the tactical and having it be longer definitely would not hurt it.

We have been working through the SUPER BEAST. What do ya all think about a liner lock ? A blade this big has some issues with jamming the lock face.

Hmmmm.... What about a 3.5" blade? Framelocks are my personal favorite. I think I would have to see a proto of the linerlock to give an honest opinion. Your Framelocks look bullet proof.
