just picked up a surface grinder today. man its nice. cast base, big heavy mofo. boyer schultz. great conditon. thanks to paul sabin for the help unloading it and thanks to Mr. Roy for selling  it

That's a good unit for knifemakers, Mikey. The Boyar-Shultz and the Harig have a nice small footprint and a solid feel to them. Many units you see are are already converted to 120v. Did you get the 6x12? What kind of chuck do you have?

its a 6X12, i need to buy a chuck actually, thiking of hitting wholesale tool in stoughton today. its 220v but that doesn't bother me if anything i'll just swap the motor.

Jeez Mike, I thought maybe you'd forgotten about that thing. Very cool, your lucky I didn't have a bigger truck. ;)
Have fun with it.

New toys are always a lot of fun! Who is Chuck, and what does he have to do with this?

Sounds cool. Be careful about the motor swap idea. Most small surface grinders I've seen are direct drive and require a precision balanced motor to get any kind of decent surface quality. If it's 3 phase 220 (230) you're probably better off getting some sort of phase converter. If it's single phase, it might be worth getting aline run in for it.

Hey Mike, nice score. I could have sworn I heard you tell Paul he would'nt have to lift a finger! Lets make some damascus and try that thing out.

yeah its got a phase ocnverter actually so i'm all set its worth running a line to gett he 220 out there.

hey Jay, he didn't really lift much, well i guess a little, but not the heavy stuff. i'm dying to try this sucker out, and i'm dying to make some high count damascus. time to hit valcourt and check out some grinding wheels :D

Keep getting the equipment that way I can go over and use yours. Instead of the other way around. HEHEHEHE!!!!!
