Hi folks;
I bought ontario rd-4 bush(3/16 thick) at knife show 2 days ago.Even i really love the blade shape of afghan i kinda turned of cus i doesnt have lanyard hole.And quarter inch thick spine plus thick micarta slabs make it little uncomfy for me even(i have large hands though)
But when i came home i can kinda feel guilty about not buying afghan(or quarter inch thich rd-4).So i wanna return it tomorrow but its the last day of show:D
Im gonna be use it for wood processing and all arounder so;
Lanyard is that neccessary when chopping wood or its more usefull at longer blades?
For an 4,5 inch blade 3/16 is enough thick or should i get 1/4 inch?But if i get the 1/4 '' models im gonna sand the micarta slabs for thinning them.
I spend my knife budget with rbs-4 and cold steel leatherneck now so need your help did i made a nice decision or shall i return it?(ps:for afghan or rd-4 i gotta pay tad more but not sth i really care now )

I can post pics.

It all depends on what YOU want. You can process wood (baton) with either one. Seems like it is just a matter of personal preference. I have both 3/16" thick blades & 1/4" thick blades & many of them. You have less worry with a 1/4" thick blade, but ANYTHING can break, if you try hard enough. I don't have an RD-4, but i do have an RD-6 Signature Series. That sucker is 3/8" thick !!! Yup, makes a 1/4" thick blade look small. Personally, i LIKE options. I would definitely want a lanyard hole---even if i did not use it, because options are good.

This is the 3/8" RD-6 Signature Series next to a 1/4" thick BK2 !!!

Don't let anyone tell you that thick blades can not be sharp either. Ontario makes a good product. Personally, I like the RD series because of the extended tang, for batoning, if needed.

Thanks mate,i saw ur pics at other forums too,this sigtanure thing is the real beast LoL
Their fit and finish is not top notch but at price point theyr are the real deal imo.
If u say 3/16 is good enough for baton i can stay with it but he afghan model have drop point blade instead of clip point on rd series,do you think it have advantage on bushcraft?or clip point tip of the blade can damaged with a baton?(not you r3/8'' model dude:D)
Lanyard can be usefull too but i can sacrifice of it maybe.

No more help?Cmon guys i wanna go to bed :D(different time zone)
Lemme ask u again;
For this size of blade 3/16'' is fine for baton chop and other stuff?No im not gonna stab metal sheats with it only wood and other organic stuff.Also lanyard is neccesary at this size of knfe?

Good morning friends,
I'm from Brazil and I am choosing my knife.
When I was researching, I found this super machine, RD-6 Signature Series. TwinStick, congratulations. Knife spectacular.
I'm in doubt between the Kabar BK2 and Ontario RBS-6 9444OM.
I see a lot of talk BK2, but wanted the opinion of you that have experience.
Could you help me?
Thank you in advance.

Im on the market for a signature series, if you know of anyway who´s tired with all that extra weight, i´ll be much thankfull for the heads up.
