Very old design from Australia. This pattern was originally inspired by Aboriginal blades and ended up being added to survival kits for Australian military. I have seen pictures of these since I was a teenager but never ran into an actual blade. A recent post on another forum showed som basic specs and I decided to make my own. These run pretty thick so I used some .200 5160 for mine. Flat chisel grinds make up the blade. Hardly as comforting as a full size blade, it actually is quite a useful blade for simple tasks. I mean really if it’s down to something like this or looking for sharp rocks, you aren’t carving pretty spoons or slashing your way out of the jungle. The design has lots of holes for lashing to a spear or even just a longer handle. I’m thinking I really dig this design and may make some more eventually 👍
