New Svord Peasant too tight

I just got my first Svord Peasants, 1 is plastic handled and the other aluminum.

The problem is with the aluminum version, in the closed position, the blade is wedge so tight in between the handle that it's impossible to open one handed and it takes a lot of muscle and leverage to open it with both hands. Once I get it open, the tang (flipper? what's the correct term for this part?) is wedged just as tight in the handle making it just as hard and dangerous to close. I've opened and closed it two times and the finish inside the handles is already scratched up (not that I care, but I was thinking about gifting it).

Has this happened to anyone else or is it just this particular knife that has to be loosed up or something?

The peasant is a friction folder IIRC. This means that there is no locking mechanism, and the only thing keeping the blade in the handle (open or closed) is friction.

There should be just simple screws on the outside to adjust the tension on the knife to whatever pleases you.

Good luck :).

Thanks, that's what I thought and I tried to adjust it but the screws don't have nuts on the other side, they look like rivets.

the screws adjust it. makes it loose or tight depending on which side. adjust it to your liking and the problem will go away. just hold the other side of the pivot(the rivet looking thing) with your finger hard and the friction will hold it still and the screws will loosen.

as you play with both screws you'll see what is going on and how to get it just right for your likes.
