I really haven't had a chance to do anything with the knife since I got the new scales, I will definitely be checking them out more this coming week, but I really love how they feel. I think Dale has outdone himself with these. The fit is fantastic on my ESEE-6, and I'm loving the contours and the more oval cross section, plus the texture is really nice. Once again the scales make it feel like a whole new knife. I also really like how the contours really help the rearward grip when using the knife to snap cut through heavy brier vines, that's a big plus in my area. Even with the contours and the palm swell the fit in the stock sheath is still perfect. Nicely done Dale, looking forward to trying it out in the bush next week.

Man those are nice, makes it look like a whole new knife. My only gripe with the ESEE knives I've owned are the thin scales, these ones look perfect. If they made them for the 4, I would grab another one in a heartbeat!

A little different animal since they were made as much to extend the handle as be more comfortable, and they aren't as oval in cross section...but...

Those are NICE! I'll probably end up with a set eventually.

WOW! Those look great!

Makes the 6 look like a different knife.

Thanks for sharing those pics.

I think so too. Dale did a great job on these. They do turn the 6 into a whole knife knife, and are really comfortable.

They look great. The 6 is one of the knives I don't use too much. I may have to get some scales to try them on it. Perhaps I'd use it more.

Those look really comfortable. Figures, I have three ESEE knives but no 6 and Dale comes out with those... Talk about tempting!

There's one thing I'm curious about though, how's the balance now? I have a set of TKC scales for my 4 and noticed they make it more handle heavy. I thought that was a good thing for the 4 since it's a medium sized knife but with a larger knife like the 6 that might not be so great. I'd be interested to know how it feels to you.

nice
I am waiting on greent ones

I'm wanting either camo when they come out or the same green and black I have on my 4.

I instantly liked the knife 10 times more with the new scales, they do make a huge difference to me.

Yeah, it made the 4 handle heavy because of the added length I think, and I agree it's great for the size knife the 4 is. The original balance point of this 6 was just slightly more handle heavy than a neutral or first finger balance. The balance point now is exactly neutral and right on the first finger. I am personally considering saying to heck with the warranty and drilling some holes in the tang to throw the weight forward a little, but as for your question these scales do not make the knife any more handle heavy than it was to start with, actually slightly less and much more comfortable in hand.

Very, very nice indeed!!

I was playing around with it some earlier today cutting some briers on the trail and just messing around, and I agree, they are very nice :)

Thank you so much for posting this I just got a 6 and was thinking "I wish the handle had a more oval shape" . I was looking at the other TKC scales and saw these thing and wanted to know how they felt .Again thank you for this I am going to order some right away.

Well...put a set of these scales on it and you will immediately get your wish. The difference in feel is is huge and the knife takes on a whole new personality :)

Very nice. I had an ESEE 6 for a short time, but returned it because it wasn't quite right, and I liked the BK7 more. The TKC scales I put on my -3 turned it into a fantastic knife, looks like these improve the 6 as well. Dale is doing great things for the ESEE line with these I think.

I've been looking at the 6 for a while now. Any comments on the knife itself? Awesome scales though.

Bad, bad, bad..... why must you tempt me?

Those scales look awesome and I just got a 6 recently, but man that puts the knife at about $170. But if it makes that big of a difference.......

Anyone want to buy some gently used original ESEE-6 scales? :D

Before these scales it was mainly the carry system I liked so much. I mean the knife is cool and all and I do have a love for drop points and ESEE makes decent enough knives that are tough and take a lot of abuse, but I really loved the sheath system. I would have been just as happy with the 6 carry system with any number of other knives I own. After I changed scales my opinion of the knife went up several notches.

I love the curve of the spine, it and the four both work well with my wrist for my uses. The blade length and flat grind make it a great chopper for it's size and quick snap cuts shear through even half inch thick brier vines like they aren't even there. Paired with a smaller knife of folder it handles all of my needs in the warmer months. The stock scales were just square and block-y and not all that comfortable to me personally. I had concluded I liked the shape and blade geometry enough I was going to buy one and round-over the scales and viola, right before I bought it Dale announced he was making new scales for them, not only more rounded over but contoured as well. I love how the knives performs in the bush, I just like it for more longer term use much better with the new scales

They look perfect, why don't ESEE have scales like that on to begin with !

Because of the cost added to the knife I imagine, a lot of people wouldn't see it as worth the cost increase.

They do make a huge difference in comfort to me, particularly in long term use of the knife.
