Well, this is my first attempt a "tactical" style knife. I had a customer commission this piece. Requirements were that it be a simple carbon steel that could take a beating, a 5-6" blade, had decent grip, and be an all around hard using field knife. This is what I came up with.
Specs:
-1/4" 1075 carbon steel differentially heat treated to approx 58-59 Rc
-textured 1/8" black G10 scales secured with 12 (6 per side) 2-56 flat heat torx screws (countersunk into scales)
-does not show in the pics, but the tang is left full thickness (1/4"), skeletonized under the scales, and tapped for the screws
-balances out approx. 1/2" behind the plunge
-3/8" hole for thong loop
-11 1/2" overall with a 6" blade
-satin finish on flats, fine scotchbrite finish on bevels
Anyway, let me know what you think, have a good one,
Nathan
