Hi, I've avoided Cold Steel folders for years, I have a old voyager and have never really cared for it. The blade didn't hold an edge very well and the plastic handle just felt cheap. When Cold Steel said they were going to use Carpenters CTS-XHP I was interested. Then they went with G10 instead of the old plastic stuff. More interested. Then ODg10 and black blade and furniture, ok yeah i'm in.
So the first that I ordered showed up this morning. Talwar with the new steel and Od G10. At first glance its pretty nicely finished, no complaints at all. Edge was symmetrical and reasonably sharp. The extra pocket clip is a nice touch and the G10 is grippy but not too grippy. Still not a real fan of back locks but I can live with it. So touched up the edge a bit and did some cutting in the kitchen. Nice slicer. Took it outside and trimmed a bunch of vines off a tree, from small to an inch thick, cuts like a champ. I'm very pleased with the edge holding, it stayed very sharp and the coating showed pretty much no wear.
Now I'm excited for the others I ordered to show up.
thanks guys
