New Tarffis D2 Steel price will go up.

Overblown issue as someone showed in the last thread about this. Using the source in the article and going with .187" thickness because it's common to build a knife with a 3.5" blade, buying the smallest chunk of d2 (to possibly overestimate cost to a maker and definitely for a knife company), the cost of d2 is $6.37 (raw price for
"Thickness : .187 / Width : 1.0 / Length : 36 / Weight in lbs : 1.916" is $65.55, so 3.5"/36" * $65.55 is about $6.37). Adding on 25% gives $7.97, or a $1.60 increase.

Tl;dr: Steel cost, in the case of most steels, is a very small fraction of the cost of a knife, so the import tax doesn't significantly change their price.
 
Also, you mention the Delica, but that has nothing to do with this.

1. This is a tax on Chinese steel import, and neither the knife nor the steel is Chinese (or made in the U.S. to suffer the Chinese tariffs).
2. Even ignoring (1), the article you cite says: "But, folding knives, fixed blades, and finished knife parts imported from China will not be affected."

I don’t mind these types of conversations, but I do believe they belong in W&C or Current Events and not in GKD

No, they do not belong in W&C. If they could stay away from Politics (they rarely can) they would be appropriate for Current Events (though it rarely stays away from politics either).

I believe all of these are the reasons why we have a Political Forum expressly for this kinda stuff. Seems like that it what it is there for.

Fair enough, I barely know my way around places that aren’t KSD. But IMO this convo about d2 shouldn’t reach GKD until we seen that either MSRP or MAP (depending on the company) is affected. That’s the last that I’ll say about this on this section
