New Targa over priced

I just received a new Targa from SOG. The day after the purchase at $140 I found the same knife at Walmart for $90. I tried contacting SOG and no response.

The knife is not worth $50 in my judgement. The curved blade is difficult to properly sharpen. I worked to shaving edge with DMT system. The new opening and locking system is not impressive. The steel from Japan is a mystery. I am happier with my little 'slim jim' tango. My Kershaw leek is head and shoulders better than this knife. So much for improvements.

I will be looking at Gerber, Benchmade and Spydico for better folding knifes.

I was not happy to see this new knife from SOG. The blade grind looks unnecessarily complicated and strange to the point of strange for strange sake. I also don't like the SOG logo plastered over everything.

That said, the lock is proven. The steel is good (VG-10). And if you bought from SOGs website? I don't know what to say. That is not street price. You paid way too much.

With any purchase, you must do your research, regardless of what you buy (knife, car, microwave). Knowing what I have seen about this knife I sure wouldn't have bought it. Hopefully you can get along with it but next time please look into what you are buying before you do so. I know this can't always be done with the only reality of buying knives on line for many of us. That is a good reason to hold off on a purchase until more is known about the product.
