Just got my first Techno, and a Sage 2. Can any one tell me a trick on how to break in these sweet knives.
I am having particular trouble with the Techno because of the small gripping area on the lock side. The lock on both are a little sticky.

Thanks for any advise...:o

What's the rush? Just enjoy the newness, you'll never get that back once it gets a bit beat up. Put a little Sharpie mark on the spot where the lock touches the blade.

I guess I have been spoiled buy the silky smooth flick of my ZT's. I know these are completely different knives, just love a nice flick snap.
So this is considerd normal with Spyderco Ti frame locks. Mu thumb is getting pretty raw, true signs of a addict.

Hi Burr, I'm not sure I understand your question. What do you mean when you say the lock is sticky?

I can tell you that I have the ti military and it opens up like its on ball bearings!

I mean the Lock bar engagement. Both knives are sticky, but the Techno is the worse of the two. I have tried the pencil trick and it has helped some.
guess time and allot more flicking will ease my troubles. was your military smooth right out of the box, I have a few other Spyderco;s, but they have different locks, and usely needed some adjusting to smooth out. Manix 2 , and a couple Endura's. Thinking about a Southerd, our a Military in the future.

thanks

My Techno was pretty stiff out of the box. It has taken some time to break it in. Give it time:)

My military was a bit stiff when I got it. I didn't make any adjustments and within a few weeks it was smooth as butter.

My Techno was smooth as butter but due to overall size of the knife, it isn't a knife that is quick to flick open. No matter how I hold it, a finger always ends up on the lock bar making it harder to open.

A little pencil will help with the lock stick but time will help break it in.

When I picked up my Techno I was a little disappointed with how tight it was. Sure enough though, after a couple weeks of use, it now flips open very smoothly and quickly.

Just enjoy the knife while it's breaking in! I love the break in period, you only get it once with a knife. Don't waste it!

Thanks Guys, I took it apart and polished the washers, very lightly. Put a dab of high slip, and resembled. Better but not smooth, makes a dragging "hissing" sound when half way open. I have flipped it like crazy for a couple weeks, no change.
Lock bar is settled in 30% and is perfect, No stick at all. Bit me twice while closing, and my thumb is a little tender at this point.:o
