This thing feels great in hand...started to worry after seeing some concerns about the comfort of the handle. Feels GREAT to me.

Couple questions, when using this with Spec-Ops Combat Master large sheath should there be a bit of resistance sliding the blade in the Kydex of the sheath? I feel it rub a bit near the fatter portion of the knife...I have to assume that this is better than having a loose fit. Ya just feel it rub a bit.

The edge is a bit sharper than I figured it would be, anyone know about what combined edge these usually leave the factory with? Mine was sharpened by Alan (nice job!)

Thanks so much!

Great looking knife!...I almost went with Tanker Gray.

Anyone use the large Spec-Ops Combat Master sheath with the TGLB and know if it should be a bit snug?

Those are some great looking blades. You can add a little heat to the insert and that should loosen it up a bit but I would wait for one of the kydex guys to come along with real advise. :p

I knew that you "could" heat them a bit to reshape the Kydex but then I wondered if it was actually a bad thing that there's a bit of resistance when sliding in the blade into the sheath. I could be wrong, I've never bought a sheath that wasn't made exactly for that knife but I would assume that having it rub a bit is better than having just sitting in there loose. I think its rubbing some down near the end of the spine near the tip...it may end up smoothing out the texture a bit over time but then I plan on using it anyway.

Any advice is certainly welcome!

I can't find any screw that holding this Kydex in place yet it doesn't want to slide out. I've seen plenty of sheaths in which there's a screw holding it in but I'll be damned if I can find one on this sheath.

I LOVE the handle on this knife...after hearing it felt like a golf ball in your palm I was a bit concerned but it feels great in my hand. I wear XL gloves and maybe that's why its comfortable but I won't change a thing about the knife.

Very nice, fellas. Just check my tracking number and it has made it into the state so if all goes well I should have it tomorrow.

KLJTech... The screw holding the liner in the Spec-Ops Combat Master sheath is right below the accessory pouch... unless they have changed the design to that of the Basic Modular sheath, in which case there is no screw but a grommet instead and the liner can't be removed.

I just checked again, no screw under the pouch, I thought maybe it was hidden in the rear but nope. I see no way to remove this insert but then again maybe it doesn't need to be messed with.

Should the knife sit loosely in the Kydex only being held in place by gravity and the retention snap? I'm not sure that I'll be able to do much about it either way...

I just bought the sheath directly from Spec-Ops a couple weeks ago.

I have the same sheath got it with my first TGLB. My sheath the insert seems to be secured by the snap ring/ lanyard hole. My knife doesn't get snug until the last 1 1/2 inches of the blade is being inserted. Didn't really like the setup so ordered a custom leather sheath from Chuddy Bear leather. Congrats on the TGLB it's a great blade in my opinion, really like mine ! :)

Thank you! Its nicer than I had even imagined...plus its my first Busse.

If anyone has any insight on the couple questions I had in the first post I've be very grateful. I like the Spec-Ops style sheath as it not only allows me to carry the knife lower but also gives me a pouch on the front to carry a Multitool like my Leatherman Wave or a folder and a Fire-Steel.

Like duramax, my TGLB doesn't get a "bit" snug until that last couple inches are inserted and I think its rubbing close to the spine down near the tip. Not sure that this is any reason for concern...other than it may rub the coating smooth with much use. The knife is going to get used anyway...

Anyone with Busse or anyone that owns the TLGB know what angle or combined edge the TGLB normally leaves the factory with? Give or take a couple degrees?

Thanks!

Congrats on the new blade.

I have always been a fan of a bit of a snug fit with my sheaths. Have carried many knives in Spec Ops sheaths and most ride on the front of a vest upside down. I would rather have to pull a bit to get it to come out as opposed to it just slopping around. So if you ask me, there should be a bit of resistance.

The knives from the factory come with a convex edge that is done on a slack belt grinder. Because of this there is not really a true angle as it is convexed not flat.
Hope this helps.

Garth

KLJTEch, I pretty much think that is the way the sheath is designed to be. The sheath being designed to fit different knife makes. I do know you can make it fit better. As per the sharpening angles I'm still new and have heard different numbers, so I'm not 100% sure on that. I know for mine I'm ordering some leather strops and polish and possibly an edge pro ? I'm pretty good at sharpening, but for some reason second guessing sharpening my INFI lol :)

Congrats on your new blade! The TGLB is one of my favorites for sure. . .

Not sure what angle the edge bevel is on these. I don't think it really matters as INFI is very easy to sharpen freehand. I reckon you give a crack and create your own bevel/convex over time. I do this with all mine and they are uber sharp!

Congrats on a nice blade and sheath. I got my knife just before they quit with the competition finish, and got the spec ops combat master large in multicam for it.

I found that mine was too tight to my liking, so I removed the insert and stuck it in hot water for a minute. Reinserted the knife and it still has some friction but not like it did. The downside is that the flare at the throat of the insert isn't as pronounced as it was, but that's really pretty minor.

As for removing the insert............it's different than the short combat masters I have, which do indeed have a screw holding it in. On my large CM, it is held in by velcro. It will feel like it doesn't want to come out, but it will.

Thanks for the information. I had wondered if there was a loop or something made on the back of the Kydex insert and if that was sewn to the back of the sheath somehow.

If one were to be able to remove the Kydex and heat it for a minute in hot water do you wrap the blade in anything to protect it as you put it in the warm Kydex to better form it to your blade? I don't know if the warm Kydex would mess up the finish on the brand new TGLB or not. I've heated Kydex before that came with a fixed blade and made subtle changes to the fit...in this case that's all I'd like to do if I do anything with it, to just make a subtle change to the fit.

I've seen some of the leather sheaths made for Busse knives and though I think they look incredible I like the functionality (the ability to carry a folder and fire-steel in the pouch) of the Spec-Ops...who knows?...in time I may change my mind and go with a custom leather sheath.

I finally got a chance to get out today and use the TGLB and I gotta say this knife has the THE most comfortable handle of any fixed blade I've ever used. I had read a couple posts in which a buyer wasn't liking the middle part of the handle and that had me concerned but it couldn't be more comfortable for my hands if it were custom made for me. What a great knife...I feel kinda stupid that I'd never seen it before seeing it on T.V but somehow I think I'll get over that. :D

My Spec-Ops sheath Kydex is still rubbing a bit, right at an inch from the tip where the knife becomes full thickness...it'll rub smooth soon but then this knife will be used anyway so I guess its far better than having the knife rattle around in the sheath. I was thinking about ordering a leather sheath made just for the TGLB and was wondering if anyone could point me to someone that's really good and wouldn't require me sending in the knife to have it fit properly?

You guys have been a HUGE help to me in buying my first Busse and I'd just like to say thank you all very much!

Not hijacking I hope, but as Garth said, the TGLB is a convexed edge. Last night I bought the Work Sharp Sharpener. That thing is AMAZING on the big Busses. It is basically a miniature slack belt grinder. It comes with 3 different belts. They go from rough to 6000 polishing belt. This thing is simply FANTASTIC for the convex Busse edges. I put my TGLB on it last night, and in less than 20 minutes my big TGLB would push cut newspaper, an would push shave hair. It is the best $75-$80 bucks you can spend. With the money spent on these knives, a sharpener that will convex sharpen INFI that well is awesome.
