I had never actually seen the 112 in person and had no interest in this model, I didn't truly know how much smaller than the 110 it really was and honestly thought it was simply a little shorter.

Recently I went fishing with my brother and his best friend Ben, were all knife lovers and Ben showed me the 112 he had in his pocke.
We swapped knives and I was surprised by the size of the 112 and how it felt in hand, impressed really.
I still think it looks a bit weird compared to the 110, but I used to feel the same way about the curved bolsters on the 55 before I bought one.

I can't say I really want a 112 right now since I've been favoring smaller folders lately and haven't carried my 110 in a while, but as of know I can say that I could see myself owning one.

I'll certainly think about the 112 for a while.

I like the front bolster shape of the 112 better than the 110. to me in some ways its a better looking knife, but I prefer the 110 size.

hold a 500, if you haven't. to me a far better pocket carrying knife with same size blade as 112. to me a 112 or 110 for that matter isn't a good pocket carry knife. unless a pocket clip version.;) sheath carry is far better. the 500 is a underrated and under appreciated knife.

I may do that, but I do prefer clip blades on all but the smallest Buck lockbacks.
If I ever get one I've got every intention of belt carry just as I do with my 110.

Yes the 112 is a great knife. I have two, one is a custom shop with s30v clip blade and one is the January botm drop point cocobolo in S35vn my favorite. I like them as my whittling and close up work. I don’t carry them as often as a 110 but for certain tasks the 112 is perfect. I can also see where they would be a very good skinning knife especially the drop point.

No. You NEED to own a 112. This is the final word. Case closed.

For all that have not tried one I suggest the Ecolite version from around 2012 if 420 steel will do. My personal favorite is the Slim Pro plus in S35VN. I am really impressed with that steel. A finger grooved bareheaded, especially with a nickel silver frame and a fancy handle, has a very distinctive look and feels great in hand.

I usually carry the 112 more often than the 110 (although I recently carry the 110 lt more often). I was surprised how much I liked the FG 112, also. Another strange thing... I think one of my 112's was overground near the front bolster (becomes more narrow towards the blade compared to my other 112's) but I like that irregular shape even more.

I do like my EcoLite 112 a LOT, but I had my heart set on a red plum 110 EcoLite. Sadly, they were gone before I could pull the trigger and I haven't found one for sale, not for love or money. That's what drove me to the aluminum framed 110. But for anyone who finds the EcoLite in 112, you'll be mightily pleased!

(Now if Buck would just engineer my red micarta aluminum 110 drop point into an auto while it's in for SPA service, I can die content!)

Life long 110 Fanboy here. When I open a 112 my reaction is always the same. “Where is the rest of the blade?”

I recognize how great a 112 is. The front bolster is better than a 110. I like that they used to have no nail nick. The bolster moves the hand forward plus acts as a guard. I hate that the 112 cost more than the 110. To me the 112 is for places with blade length laws. Otherwise why pay more to get less.

I do very much like drop point 112’s over the clip points. Which is strange because I like the clip more on the 110’s.

Of all this is just my opinions. Both are fantastic knives.

I’m kinda the same way on the shorter looking blade but when I’m whittling or doing some close heavy cutting or not enough room for a 110 that’s when I appreciate the shorter more stocky blade and handle. I probably use the 112 about a 10th as much as my 110s but that 10% can be very important. I’ve often wondered how a 110 size 3 blade stockman would be having a 110 clip point 3.8 main blade with a 112 3.0 drop point and a sheep’s foot. I’d love one in S35vn. Just imagine!

That's how I felt before but realized that I just like my 110 because it's a 110 ,it's particular blade length was never important to me.
I started to favor smaller folders more as a primary EDC so I bit the bullet on a 55 and love it.

Oh btw these days with the 112lt being available for as low as $20 anyone apprehensive about the price increase can afford to try out the 112.
I may do this at some point, if I don't like it I can just give it away.
