New Ti Military Coming?

I've been seeing guys who posted about getting the Ti Military - only to see the same guys selling them on the exchange. I wanted to buy one but this made me think twice.

Are there some problems with the Ti Military version that I'm not aware of, or is there perhaps a new titanium Spyderco Military with a lock bar stabilizer or some new "goodie" on it's way?

Thanks :)

It was recently announced that future Ti Military knives will have a steel insert on the lock to smooth the action of the lock and protect the titanium. The G10/Ti special run will have this feature as well.

I was never happy with the feel of the lock on the Ti Military, and after seeing this announcement, sold mine.

See here.

cheers

Mines for sale too. Not because of any concerns about the lock but because I just have been unable to warm up to the Military. I sold my G10 version but got the RIL one because its a "Holy Grail" knife. I still didn't care for the pattern. So I'm selling to someone who love the Military.

I probably should hold on it just because!

There is also a "fluted" military that is anodized coming out sometime soon, I imagine with the steel lockbar insert.

The only real "common" complaint that I read up on about the Ti Military is that the weight is just overbearing for a model that is known to be a light weight pocket sword.

Although many wanted and still want [Ti/G10 version for me!] a RIL Military the main reason everyone loves the model is, because of it's feather light weight.

If you don't mind a big knife shy of 6oz the Ti RIL Millie is for you! ;]

I wish they'd make one with a thicker blade. Then I might buy one.

Will it be g-10 over ti on the non-locking side? I don't get this. My Sebenza, Hinderer, ZT all have ti locks so what's up with putting steel on them as the others work fine w/o special protection?

Is there anywhere that I can find out about this in more detail? I apologize for my ignorance and appreciate any info as I'm thinking of another Military.

No, it will be just g-10 on the non locking side.

read this thread for more info on the steel insert: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=767524

G-10 and Ti handle with steel embeds on the lock bar? Think I'll pass and pick up a standard G-10 w/linerlock, if I do get another Military.

The lock-bar wore across the tang faster than any other frame-lock I've had.:(
Generally I like titanium lock faces better than steel, but I'll be waiting on the steel insert before picking up another I think.

That's good because they have been sold out for a long time. The replaceable lock bar tip is going to be like the one on the Lionsteel SR-1. It will allow the lock to be fixed with just a small replaceable part. If the lock wears and moves across the blade tang or the ball bearing develops a flat spot, it can just be replaced to make the lock action almost like new. One of my complaints with the liner/ frame lock design is that once the lock wears out you have to throw it away and can't fix it. With this design you can fix it. I'm not a fan of the Military at all, but I did get on the pre-order for the G10/Ti/M4 now w/ replaceable lock tip just to check it out. I personally like it and don't see a negative to the addition.

Here is what it looks like on the Lionsteel:

Did it move all the way over? Have a pic? One complaint I often have of framelocks is that too little of the lockbar engages, in my opinion of course. I didn't like that about the PPT.

No pics as it went to my brother and my camera broke completely.:(
It moved to 90% engagement or so from about 70% in oh, about a week though, which didn't leave much room for wear.
I like about 50% engagement; doesn't slip off, and does leave room for wear.
