Hi There,

First time poster, but thanks to many of you on this forum. I've have finally decided to retired my old Buck Master and get a Tigershark.

A couple of questions though, I purchased the knife through E-Bay for just under 100 bucks and it appears new, had a cardboard sleeve for the blade and wrapped in plastic. However, there wasn't any documentation in the box like my Flash when I got it. Is there anything special I should know in regards to care etc.... ???

Secondly, this is a big knife and what are some of your recomendations for a leg strap or cord etc.... any personal preferences out there??

TIA...

Cheers!!

Guardrail, Welcome to BladeForums :) , contact SOG and ask them to send you an instruction manual, I'm sure they will be glad to.

New Pig Hunter and Wildmanh, here on the forums are the "Big knife" experts, they also have a lot of experience in sheathing/leg straps.

I don't own one of these fine knives but I know several here on the forums do, and has lots of experience in care and feeding. :D

For a SOG instruction manual, call 1-888-SOG-BEST

Guardrail,

Like you, I also bought my knife on E-bay for a little under $100.

I dont believe there was an "instruction manual" in mine either. But it did come with one of their "mini Catalogs."

As for knife care, Keep it sharp and keep it clean, but the best way to care for this knife is to use it.:D. Also the epoxy powder coating will tend to wear off on certain high spots from rubbing on the walls of the sheath. While this can't be entirely avoided, it does help to blow the sheath out once in a while to rid of any dirt or grit.

BTW, I made a leg strap for my Tshark out of an old camo web belt much like the one located here, Just cut it down to length and run it through the slots. I also made a drop-leg extension out of an old nylon Mag-lite holster (only figured this out because of my low budget). There are probably much better ways of doing this though.;)

Guardrail,

AWESOME !!! CONGRATULATIONS !!! Great Price !!!

That is one fine knife you've now got. Put a razor edge on it, go find some big tree limbs, and you'll see why the Tigershark goes everywhere with me when I'm in the field. Use it, use it, and then use it some more.
One of my own favorite uses is as the "centerpiece" of my Tactical Tableware collection. Nothing raises eyebrows like carving a prime rib with the Tigershark......

like Socintel, I use a simple nothing-fancy leg strap to keep it from flopping around.

Cheers and Congrats,

TY kindly for the warm welcome all.

I'll have to try serving a steak dinner some time when my collection gets big enough....hehe :)

One thing that does concern me though is the sharpening. I've never had to care for a serrated edge before. I've never been the type to use expensive 10 pieces sharpeners, typically the ones you drag through is all I've normally used. Does SOG have any recommendations for sharpening of the serrations or any particular brand of sharpeners? Personally, I'm into EASY...=)

TIA,

Guard...
