"New" Titanium in the TiMil?

I got my (very early) TiMil back from Golden today -she had lockup issues- and I noticed that the locking side is MUCH "grippier" and slightly "darker" than the front slab. This may be that my front slab was worn down from carry and they just replaced the locking side but I honestly think it's a different titanium treatment. Anyone else notice early Spyderco titanium is "different" than the newer stuff?

BTW, the lockup is PERFECTION now and I forgot how much I loved her...

I'll get some pics up as soon as the camera battery charges.

I'll strip it down soon and take a close-up of the lock bar face, I can tell there's some work that was done there but it's for the greater good.
 
Thanks jjspec. I'm interested ins eeing what's been tweaked on your knife. I am really waiting for the anodized version to come out with the designs on the handle.
