Basically I've gone from knowing absolutely nothing about Ethan Becker/BK&T to purchasing 4 Ka-Bar / Doug Ritter knives within the last 11 days.
It all started when I happened to see a thread on the BF general board about a Ka-bar Eskabar this guy had purchased. I liked it enough that I bought one myself. The same time I bought a BK2, again knowing nada about the brand. I heard of it, sure, but never really cared for the handle design. I'm all about visuals, if I don't dig the looks, I lose interest real fast. However, the fact my dealer had some micarta scales for the BK2, pretty much what sold it for me...
After that, I started watching youtube reviews about the BK2, since I basically purchased it on looks/steel, alone. Funny thing is, I'm not a fan of thick blades as I don't do much batoning/chopping tasks. Had I known it was 1/4" thick before I bought it, I probably would not have purchased it. Very pleased things worked out the way they did. Otherwise, I'd never have gotten to know how good Becker's knives were.
Not to mention, the man himself. Watching BK2 reviews I come across equip2endure's video interview with Ethan Becker. I must say, I really liked his personality and his all around attitude about knives. Much respect.
Tonight @ 2AM MST (moment I got paid), I purchased the Doug Ritter RSK Mk2 (love the overall looks - yeah the handle design growing on me) and yesterday I bought the BK11 san mai & micarta scales. I dunno about you, but to me that's got to be a pretty decent start on a brand I just learned about 11 days ago (altho I am a pretty fast learner). Comparatively speaking, I've purchased that many Benchmade's in 2 years.
Tomorrow, ok today, I should receive my BK2, scales, and Eskabar. Damn holidays. Otherwise I'm going to throw something that closely resembles a fit. Like a berserk or something. I'm not the most patient person when waiting for packages to arrive. Mail-order-bride would probably kill me.
Anyway, there you freakin have it (4am here - time for comatose).
