Basically I've gone from knowing absolutely nothing about Ethan Becker/BK&T to purchasing 4 Ka-Bar / Doug Ritter knives within the last 11 days.

It all started when I happened to see a thread on the BF general board about a Ka-bar Eskabar this guy had purchased. I liked it enough that I bought one myself. The same time I bought a BK2, again knowing nada about the brand. I heard of it, sure, but never really cared for the handle design. I'm all about visuals, if I don't dig the looks, I lose interest real fast. However, the fact my dealer had some micarta scales for the BK2, pretty much what sold it for me...
After that, I started watching youtube reviews about the BK2, since I basically purchased it on looks/steel, alone. Funny thing is, I'm not a fan of thick blades as I don't do much batoning/chopping tasks. Had I known it was 1/4" thick before I bought it, I probably would not have purchased it. Very pleased things worked out the way they did. Otherwise, I'd never have gotten to know how good Becker's knives were.
Not to mention, the man himself. Watching BK2 reviews I come across equip2endure's video interview with Ethan Becker. I must say, I really liked his personality and his all around attitude about knives. Much respect.

Tonight @ 2AM MST (moment I got paid), I purchased the Doug Ritter RSK Mk2 (love the overall looks - yeah the handle design growing on me) and yesterday I bought the BK11 san mai & micarta scales. I dunno about you, but to me that's got to be a pretty decent start on a brand I just learned about 11 days ago (altho I am a pretty fast learner). Comparatively speaking, I've purchased that many Benchmade's in 2 years.

Tomorrow, ok today, I should receive my BK2, scales, and Eskabar. Damn holidays. Otherwise I'm going to throw something that closely resembles a fit. Like a berserk or something. I'm not the most patient person when waiting for packages to arrive. Mail-order-bride would probably kill me.

Anyway, there you freakin have it (4am here - time for comatose).

Welcome to the party, bud. Yes the BK2 is a stout knife, but not unwieldy. It's actually a very capable and well-made knife. The more you use it, the more you'll like it. Good choices!

Welcome, and congrats. BKT's are some great blades, for sure. They seem to take hold of you. :D

I love the BK2, but I tend to migrate to thicker blades, I'm kinda hard on them. Stick around, we got some good stuff going on here.

Looks like the Becker bug bit you hard. Congrats on your collection. I am new to Becker knife too, got a BK2 incoming this week. Cant wait.

Cheers!

Welcome to the madness! Stay awhile!

Wow. You're completely insane. Welcome to the subforum, you'll fit right in.

Enjoy your stay, hope it will be a pleasant and long one.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the purchases.

Welcome! You have been bitten by the bug, and have one of the worst documented cases of Becker-fever i've seen(owning 4 beckers, before receiving the first one). Good choice on the san mai and the Ritter, I hope I don't regret not purchasing those. I think you'll like the bk2, I find comfort in knowing I can baton through anything(even a lawnmower) without worrying about breaking it. I had reservations at first, but now I beat on it like a madman.

This place is a lot nicer than Southern Hades.
Welcome. Pics of those Beckers please.
You're really going to like the Ritter/Becker.
I just picked up a SOG Powerlock to go with mine.

Thanks for all the kind words.

Just got back from the post office. No knives yet. But she told me they have LOTS of boxes left to process. Take your time, it's only been 11 freakin days of waiting. Take an extra coffee break while your at it. I don't mind. Actually, she looked pretty burnt out already.

/OT Rant > I order this Hoya HD cir-polarizing filter. It arrives looking all scratched up. I took a photo of the scratches - camera flash revealed them well. Seller tells me to send it back at my expense. So I do - 16 dollars Express mail as it was same price. Yeah that makes sense..... The guy tells me, him and all his employees can't "see" the scratches. They tried real hard like. I refrained from telling them to open their eyes first. Anyway, they send me a new one, I got it today ( it also shipped on the 15th). They sent me a freakin Hoya HD UV filter - %^$%#!. It's times like these I wish the Samurai values were still around, cuz I'd be demanding seppuku right about now. If they think I am paying to return this AGAIN, they are smoking some powerful crack. I'm about to send the guy an email asking which body parts he wants to donate to science. I'll make it look like an accidental email ;) . Nah, don't worry, I'm all talk...*cough die bastards die cough*.

Yep, day is looking great so far! /OT rant off

p.s. I apologize to those who were offended by the word Samurai.

Hey Corpus, welcome.

You and bullosa need to do us all a favor if you will. Post like maniacs (within all rules and guidelines of course) and get your Beckerhead numbers. A bunch of us are waiting on the first 100 numbers to get got so we can see who won a contest. There's only 3 or 4 slots left, and if you're one of 'em, you can enter the contest too, but if you're the 100th, you'll have to hurry! We seem to have stalled out at 96 or 97. So help some brothers (and a sister) out and have fun while you're doing it!

Rub it in, why doncha. I'll head back to the PO in a couple hours. Small town, they're slow. In fact, they don't even deliver packages. Have to get em yourself.

Sorry to hear about the filter woes, bud. Lucky for me, I'm only a half hr train ride into NYC. I can by B&H anytime. If you've never been and you enjoy cameras, check it out..

Micarta handles feel great on this knife. Look pretty sweet too!

The edge on the Eskabar was pretty rough. Looked like 80 grit finish on it. Was sharp enough to shave, but rough and a tad burr heavy. Since I have an Edge Pro and Spyderco Sharpmaker, I didn't care. I also stropped it a little and improved it a bit.

There was a small flaw on the Eskabar with the blade coating. Looks like it got scuffed before it had a chance to set. No biggy.

Nice pair of knives! My eskabar has the same mark in the loop. I think that is where they hang them for the coating process.

So, was playing around with the Eskabar earlier today. It's a very very aggressive cutter. Liking it A LOT so far.

Couple examples.
