Since signing up on Blade Forums, I've been spending most of my time trading or hanging with the ESEE folks. I own a couple of Ka-bars and thought the BKs looking pretty sturdy.

What are your recommendations for a first time Becker customer?

Thanks

What do you want to do?

All around camp chores/batoning/some chopping BK2

Lot's of chopping/batoning BK9

EDC/backup/smaller tasks BK14 or 11

coming in from the cold embrace of ESEE, you probably want a crossover knife, so the BK14 Eskabar is probably good. i hear tales of people getting those shipped for low money. you'll like it.

then you'll want something meaty. so as above, a lot of people give the BK2 a try.

on the other hand, why not go for something unique? that really, no other marque or line has to offer? get a BK5. that's some tasty knife right there. you'll probably toss out your Ginsu knockoffs once you get one of those ;)

then, well... read the FAQs and Blade Database. check out the stuff.

I'm going to say BK2, everyone loves this blade including myself.

"I'm not only the hair club president but also a client"

BK2 can chip chunks out of a God's leg. he said so! "you shoulda seen the knife!"

If the 5 attracted you, go for the 5.
You'll always wonder otherwise.

I think i'm going with the BK2 from Amazon (56 shipped). Thanks for the advice. Next will be the BK9.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Beckers!

There's a specific forum for trading, you should edit your last post and put it in the trade forum

Before I buy, I figured I would try to trade.

I have a couple of Kabars and an ASP baton if anyone is interested in a swap. I will post some pictures on my trade thread in a bit. Looking for the BK2 or BK9. New or used.

Welcome to the Becker forum, glad you're here.

For you first Becker, it should be a BK2. Its a great knife, and it very good at just about everythning. You will be happy.

BK-2 - fine choice. I don't think you can possibly go wrong with that one...

I actually think they look pretty nice. Just from the pics I've seen they look burly as hell. Can't wait to get one.

I own many ESEE knives, and my first Becker was the Eskabar. It was a nice transition, same handle as the Izula, blade from the BK11.
Then I had to man up, BK2, micarta scales, kydex sheath.
I think my next Becker will be the BK5. I have some kitchen knives, and need one that's more rugged for splitting chicken, ribs, and camp kitchen chores.

Hi buddy. The bk-2 or bk-9 seem to be the primary favorites. I've never bought a 9 because I have a different old Becker chopper, but I intend to change that quite quickly. The BK-5 is like a big butcher knife and I'm not kidding, it's large ! I'm going to use my 5 for more than its intended purposes this year. Not retarded ape sh@t, but not babying either. If I bust it, tough titty for me, I wont cry warranty. ;)

My first Becker was a BK2, it's badass! I then got an Escabar and a Becker Necker. All are awesome and it's just a matter of time before I get the big boys. I vote BK2, you will be impressed!

BK7 first! All else is gravy after that one. Unless they start mailing out the friggin' Critter... that might be the new hotness...
