New to BladeForum

You're probably going to get this alot, but get a Spyderco Sharpmaker. It comes with an instructional video that tells you how to do serrations, and you can put a really keen edge on just about anything. They are super easy to use also.
Oh, and welcome to the forums

Thanks, AJ.

Say, I grew up near Ann Arbor. In Brooklyn, actually, near MIS (Michigan International Speedway). Small world!

That's the one, Noggles. Good price too. Those retail at $77 or so.

Thanks. I'll pick one up and start brushing up on how to make my knives sharp again.

I appreciate the help.

Welcome to BladeForums, Noggles! So, you bought a Benchmade Skirmish?...GOOD choice. Since you must like large folders, you might also want to take a look at the Benchmade 805 or 806, as either of those will introduce you to Benchmade's excellent Axis-lock, along with G-10 scales with dual stainless liners.

As mentioned, the Spyderco Sharpmaker 204 is a good sharpening system, but a good benchstone is also pretty good, although it takes alittle more practice to learn to use one correctly and with consistancy. I use a Smith's Tri-Hone with excellent results.

Welcome to the forum, and I 2nd the Spyderco Sharpmaker for a easy to use knife sharpener.

Thanks. It sure is a pretty knife. I almost hate to use it, but I figure unless it's "one of a kind" (which it is not!) then might as well use it.

Anyhow, I bought the Spyderco sharpening system on EBay. It should be here in a few days and I'll start working on my knives. Thanks again for the warm welcome.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the Forum. The 204 (Spyderco sharpmaker) is an inspired choice. You'll sharpen like a pro and you'll never have any dull knives again :) However, if you need extra help, there is a Spyderco section at this forum (Manufacturers) and also another Forum at Spyderco's website. jump to the Spyderco Forum at spyderco.com
Next thing to do is try some Spyderco knives... or better not. You just can't stop at one :D

Thanks ~ I don't have any Spyderco knives at this time, but I'll be sure to keep my eyes open for them.
