Do they make now (Or what did they make in the past) something with a 5-6 inch blade that would work good for hunting/Gutting deer, elk etc?

I'm sure a Game Warden or Boney would work.. but maybe a little longer blade would be better.

Thoughts?

I like the Badger Attack TAC, stripped and convexed. Some prefer something of the Leaner/Meaner Street variety.

Something with the satin finish would be best too I think.. the krinkle finish would not be so easy to keep clean in my estimation.

Thanks.

I don't like coatings, and I strip it off any/every Busse that is intended as a keeper.

My wife is offering to get me a high end knife for my b-day (this weekend!) so... I am shopping hard!! I'm limited to around $300 right now though..... well.. she said $200.. so I assumed that meant $300. shhhhhh dont tell!

It turns out good! It is easy to do with just a commercial grade stripper

Would a Boney Active Duty be heavy enough for gutting?? I always go up through the cartiledge between the ribs.. all the way up to the neck basically.... I dont wanna ripple the blade like I did on a nice Randall I had... that bummed me out and turned me off from Randall Made Knives.

How hard is that though??? And does it turn out good or is there little chunks of krinkle all over the handle edges? :-)
I did all these by hand.

It's very easy. Most of us use strippers from the hardware store. I use a spray on from Lowes and then rinse with water. It usually take 2 applications and a little cleanup around the edges with a brass brush. No, it doesn't hurt the micarta either.

Wow.. nice. Thanks for the info... Now i won't pass up a decent buy on one just because of the finish!

I don't know about the BAD, but I have heard it is a little thin for this. The Game Warden is a little small, but can definitely do the job as you describe.

Can you give a little more detail about the process? I might give it a try.

P.S. Actually, I missed the two lines at the end of your post with pics. Are the strippers sort of generic or are they specific for intended use?

One question. Is the INFI a LOT better than the older modified infi they used in the Basics years ago? My b-in-law had one of those and unless it just came dull... it wasn't that hot. I think he got through one deer and it needed heavy sharpening work...

No, I'm not a troll by any means... I just remember that particular knife wasn't "all that". I know Busse has a huge following and there has to be a reason.. so I am ready to try one for myself!! I do like the looks of them very much!

I think a BAD and a fat game warden would do the trick. If you can damage a FATTY warden dressing an animal, then I want to see pictures. Both in satin and less than $300.00, Happy B-day BTW.
