hi all
two month ago i got my first busse, boss jack cg that has been fully striped and convex by previous owner.
it is a great knife, but after i sharpened it, i felt it's losining the edge very fast- so i think i might be sharpening it too thin.

what would the best sharpening angle be, for that kind of fat knife?

Greetings Sab! I am not 100% sure, but I believe a 30 degree angle (convex grind) is ideal for edge holding and field sharpening. I sharpen my blades using a mousepad & strop at a 30 degree angle, and it seems to do well. I can't get mine "air bleeding sharp," but I can maintain a good convex edge for use around the house and yard. One of the more knowledgeable hogs will be along shorty to let you know for sure...

If your knife hasn't been reprofiled, then it's hard to imagine that the edge is too thin. The edge can't be any thinner than the fat shoulder right behind it.

How are you sharpening? Are you able to put a lasting edge on other knives?

You can always send it to the shop and we can resharpen it for you. No charge just pay the return shipping. Let me know if I can help you out.

i am not much of a sharpnerguy, i used a victorinox sharpner, might be better if i use a wet stone or have someone sharpen it for me...

thanks Garth and Amy, but i live on the other side of this world so sending it back is not a real option, if i don't succeed
i will send it to someone at my country, and i will wait for my new boss jack for comparison (arrived at my sisters house, and waiting to be delivered to me)

thanks
