The only Le I have is the Batac which is thicker than its cg relative... Can I assume all LE's are thicker than their standard counterparts?

Will my miniSS Le on order be thicker than the standard ones? Will it have a different blade profile or grind that will make a better slicer?

Am I missing anything else that's pertenent to its cutting or slicing prowess?

The only consistent among LE is that they are tigerhide micarta and satin finish. A recent exception being the Game Warden LE that was snakeskin and satin. Arguably, LE status is a little iffy with that one since it wasn't a numbered series. Ah! That's right. LEs are also typically numbered though one can request a sterile (unnumbered) LE.

Most tend to be thicker but not always. I don't remember it being stated that the LE SS would be thicker, so don't plan on it. You never know though. The FSH-LE and FBM-LE were thicker. The BATAC-LE is thicker. The SJTAC was thicker and convex.

Hope that helps!

I hate to disagree with Paddling Man but Tigerhide hasnt been the only handle type released for LEs. I believe my Uncle Mofo is black linen micarta. I think the only consistent aspect of LEs is that they arent supposed to be made again but Jerry is the only one that can prove that wrong.

IT DIDNT HELP AT ALL PADDLE!

I mean it did help with my Busse knowledge base, but it didnt tell me if it would be a super slicer compared to the regulars or not!

But I appreciate the background... Cause I dont remember it saying when I ordered it that it had any differences other than the finish and handle!

Thanks for the speedy help!

Doh! Don't hate it - relish it! My wife seems to delight in it! Then again, so do the kids. I guess I was thinking of more recent LEs. That is a niiiiice mofo.

Plan to hear from Xaman soon. ;)

Skunk had fatty SFNOs at the store but does anyone recall is there was a SFNO LE? I don't remember one.

Getting back to the original question (I think), the LE Sus Scrofa will have the same blade thickness as CG, based on Busse Combat's website (at the time they were up for sale): 0.187 inches. They differ from CG in that the blade fnish is Satin, has a number, and the handles are Tiger Hide Canvas Micarta.

One clue is the magical prefix HO/HOG:

The FSH, FBM, and SJT LE models were all Heavy Ordnance Grade, which meant they were thicker. That being said, I don't think the BATACLE was ever called HO. The Meaners and Leaners in LE mode were identical to their non-HO counterparts. I concluded that the Sus Scrofa LEs would be as well.

Now what do you need 2 of those for?????? :D :D

the meaner and leaner le's came in satin/snake.

the only thin le's i can think of is the gw, and abale. which was also unnumbered. every other one i have seen has been thicker than the cg.

if I remember correctly the Annorexic Badger LE had snake skin handles.

In my limited experience, which would include the Battle Mistress LE and the Badger LE, the limited runs should be better slicers because, instead of a saber grind, the LE's have full height flat grinds. The satin finish also makes for better slicers than the coated saber ground combat grade blades. I do not know whether the secondary bevel will be a v-grind or a convex grind.
Good luck on getting a knife you like
