I have always carried a knife, and just recently started buying some nicer ones to collect. Trying to only buy USA my husband is a union man. Just not sure what is going to hold value, should I just get what I love? So far a few Case and some with nice stones. Any help and ideas?

Yes, get what you love. You will get pickier and more selective in time and you will develope your own since of style for what you collect/ use. I can understand sticking with US made knives but don't limit yourself. There are a lot of really fantastic production and customs made outside the US.

Case makes so many knives it's hard to expect they'll be investments. The only exception may be their Bose collaboration series. Still, they're great fun to collect. I have a number, ad will pick up a couple more before the year is out.

If you're worried about where it's made (and for around the same cost as a Case/Bose) their are a number of high quality custom makers available. Check out the "traditionals" and the "Custom" forums. Look through the sticky threads at the top for huge numbers of pics of really nice knives.

Welcome to the hobby!

Run is my advice! Run and dont look back.

Lol just kidding. Really just get what you like. Do research on the forum and follow the exchange and see what the knices you like are selling for.

If your willing to spend the money, get a Sebenza. If you don't like it for some reason you will have no trouble selling it here on the forum.

It seems that you are starting with traditional knives, so be sure to check out Great Eastern cutlery! Welcome to the Forums!! :)

you have a bunch of options and decisions to make but they get answered with time, experience and preference.if you like traditional american folders case and buck are good collectable knives. i collect big choppers the most popular probably being the esee junglas. most of my knives are u.s made fixed blades so i feel you on the america needs a job no chinese amercana knife please. but anyway being fixed blade bias i carry a beautiful buck gen five skinner with rose wood scales wit brass in a 3 inch cpm154 stainless steel blade with a bos heat treat in a wet molded leather sheath. its beautiful and for a hundred bones i highly recomend it. take care and make sure you have bandaids
