I'd like to start collecting Chris Reeve knives.
Like to start with a large Sebenza right hand for daily carry. Can have mods.
Start looking at other knives after that.
Any advice on what to look for and any info on pricing.
Thanks

Just buy what you want. Then buy another that you like.
And so on.they can multiply rather fast. Over time your style of collecting will sdjust to your likes and finances.
They are all well made knives, so there is no bad choice.
The Sebenza is the knife that made the company, so that is not a bad place to start,.
Look in the CRK forum of the exchange, or place a want ad in the exchange.

Greetings and Welcome. :)

Your choices are massive and varied. The only piece of advice I will give you is about where to buy not what to buy.

If you are buying new only do so from an authorised CRK dealer. There are a lot of fakes and if your eye is still inexperienced you may not spot it. Don't be tempted by huge discounts from strange sites. Chances are it's a problem.

If you are buying second hand I would only do so here. I would avoid Reddit and sites like that were scammers are always looking for a mark. Here you will almost certainly have no problems.

Personally I like the plain jane (PJ) Sebenza 31 Insingo and variants on that. But that's just me.

Good luck with the hunt.

You can start by looking through the BF Knife Exchange > Chris Reeve Knives for sale fourm. Watch the fourm to receive notifications for new listings. If you intend to buy from an individual here, you will want to obtain a paid membership because most sellers will only deal through Direct Messaging on the platform here. https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/chris-reeve-knives-for-sale.916/

Visit the official Chris Reeve website and get a firsthand look at their offereings and retail pricing. You can order direct from them but their lead times for many models is 6-7 years out. It is better to find an authorized dealer and buy from them from their stock on hand. Do a google search for the model you are looking for and dozens of dealers will show up that have stock on hand. Stick with well known dealers and avoid anything that appears sketchy or where prices look too good to be true.

Decide which blade grind you want to start with. Drop Point is the most popular, then probablly Insingo, and Tanto. Then decide on size - large or small.

The Sebenza is a great place to start. You might then want to try the Inkosi and Umnumzaan down the line, you aboslutely cannot go wrong with any model they produce. Their fixed blades are top of the line as well, the Pacific and Backpacker being two my my favorites.

Good luck on your CRK journey!

I'd recommend perusing the authorized dealers list on CRK's website and buying from one of those retailers. Yes, they're expensive. Yes, they're worth it. No one here is going to be able to intuit your personal preferences. Buy what you like with confidence that you're going to receive a well-made & reliable tool.

To echo...

-Buy what you like. Remember, alot of it is just plain artwork, so value is subjective in many cases for basically the same thing.
-If buying new, stick to the authorized CRK dealer list (yes, there are even authorized eBay CRK dealers, so check first).
-The Exchange is a good place, but be sure to read the rules, especially about protecting yourself from scams.
-If you want the good deals on the Exchange, click the "Watch" button in the upper right and choose "Email notifications" for new threads. You'll have as good a chance at the actual good deals as the snipers and flippers have. The good deals and rare items go within minutes sometimes.
-Know your knife values; Sebenzas can run 2, 3, ??? times MSRP depending on whats available/popular. Don't be in a hurry and be the guy paying an extra 10% over MSRP on a used knife available everywhere new.
For goodness sake, have fun while doing it!

If you like outside of the US I suggest starting with a different CRK. Sebenzas are great and known for their smoothness but need to be sent back to CRK if you ever need new washers and that runs the risk of confiscation depending where you live. Inkosi and Zaan don't have pivot bushings so CRK will mail those washers to you.
