Hello every one new to the forum. Purchased my first CRK last month (Starbenza) and now have 4 Chris Reeves. Will post pics later. Do have to mention this though. I have a Umnazaan that i love, great all around knife. Just can't get over the fact that the tip of the blade come so close to the end of the handles, and wouldn't you know it just Cut my self, with the blade closed. Any one ells have this problem??

I don't have an Umnazaan so cannot comment on getting cut but wanted to welcome you to BladeForums. Stick around, you will like it here. Great people and lots of knowledge. Only downside is the $$$$ you are likely to spend on more knives.

I have never heard of that happening with a zaan. Would have to see pics. I have one and it never bit me closed, but it is the one CRK that did indeed bit me in use. Should have had stitches, but just put butterflies on it and lots of neosporin and 6 weeks to heal, all I have now is a nice white scar....lol. It was at the base of my thumb where it attaches to the hand....ouch.

Enjoy the wonderful world of CRK, expect to spend lots of $$$

This is near impossible to do with an Umnumzaan with out doing on purpose and even then it's not easy. The clearances round the handle are well within the "safety zone". I have carried an Umnumzaan for years now and have never had that issue. I'm sitting here trying to cut my self with a closed Umnumzaan now and I can't reach the blade at any point through the handle. I have heard it hppen with Classic Sebenzas and have actually doen it my self on a Classic but not with any other knife. An opened knife is of course a different story and I have cut my self many times with my CRKs over the years. :p

If you have an account with one of the image hosting sites you can post them from there. You need to have a payed membership to post them from your computer to the forum. This better be a good cut, we like a bit of blood here. :D:thumbup:

Ok guys whats the best way of getting pictures put up? Sorry but im a noob!!

That is very close to the edge indeed and could well cut you. I have 3 Umnumzaans but all from 09 and none of them are like that.

You could sharpen a few mm off the end of the blade if cutting your self becomes a regular thing or perhaps even send it in to CRK to be reprofiled.

Congrats on the Gold too. :)

The tip on my umnumzaan is almost the same. I can feel it if I run my finger around the butt of the handles just right. But like Haze says, it'll sharpen out. Mine isn't bad enough to cut me so I look at it like I got more knife for my $

Welcome to Bladeforums! As I see it, you made two good great decisions in the last month. 1. Bought some CRKs and 2. Bought a gold membership on Bladeforums!

It has been said that once a knife cuts you, you can't get rid of it. You are bonded now:)

That's a great pic mquez. After looking at your pic, I confirmed that my Zaan's blade is nearly identical to yours, and if I try, I can catch the tip of the blade with my finger if I press across the scales. Now that I know I can, I'll more than likely inadvertently cut myself this weekend.:D
