New to emerson knives, where are those titanium frame lock versions from?

I've been seeing versions of the CQC 13 in titanium frame lock, and would very much like one.
However I see they are not standard production- are these custom or sprint runs?

Are you referring to the CQC-12? That's the framelock bowie.

yes, it must be the 12 i'm thinking of- thank you.

Looks like that one's pretty rare and in the 300's to buy new. Guess I'm late to the party for that one

CQC-12's show up on occasion along with the framelock HD-7. Just about all other ti framelock Emersons are done by other guys who specialize in the art of pimping Emerson folders.

They're rare but still obtainable, it just depends how many friends you make in the Emerson community!

I had a custom framelock job done on a CQC-7 which I could not ask more of

that is so sexy, and so out of my price range. Daddy like!!

Nathawut from USN

I think with the cost of a BNIB 7 and this job, it ends up being something like 250-300 dollars depending on the level of modification you want to do for an HD-7 with arguably better fit and finish.

Nathawut does great work. He has already done 8 Emerson framelock conversions for me.

- Same here. I had a CQC-10 and Combat Karambit framelock conversion by Nathawut and could not be more pleased.

Ahhh, can I (we) see some pics?

Do anyone sell these on the exchange? Cause I sure would like to buy one.

Just google it, most of the pics concerning his work are on USN which is a private forum that will not show up in search links...

A framelock'ed Emerson will not feel like a Sebenza, but the idea is that you can take your favorite knife anywhere in the world and use it almost endlessly without worrying about lockbar travel! My Nathawut framelock never moved to the right in the time I had it haha...

Could someone pm me the email for one of these custom workers? I have a CQC 8 here I would just LOVE to get the frame lock treatment

This is from a picture I borrowed from a sales listing

Reese Weiland work is not cheap, nor is it super quick. If you're willing to wait, you'll have a completely new design knife come back to you from what I have seen. He does build his own custom knives as well so I'm sure his massive experience is poured into these projects.

Ernest Emerson actually surprisingly doesn't shun these builds, it's another way for him to sell more knives and he has respect for these makers and the talent they have to do such work.

An Ernest Emerson custom at table price starts at around 6-700, a CQC-8 is 200 + maybe 2-300 for this rebuild... so at the end of the day it's two ways of doing the same thing. The makers warranty their work as well actually!

If I recall, flooding in Thailand may have put Nathawut out of the game momentarily. The only other modder I would know of is ferrrk, but I can't say whether or not he's accepting orders now.

Try to find someone with good feedback and turnaround. It's been almost a year and I'm still waiting for my CQC-11. The aforementioned guys are good though.

I don't think he's accepting work at all, he's ignored two of my PM's so I think it's "Friends and Family" only for him right now in terms of accepting work.

Reese Weiland does perhaps the nicest conversions, but it's gonna cost you!
