New to Emerson....I am military as well as a outdoors, shooting, hunting freak. What do you all recommend for my frist Emerson?

CQC-8, but it'll depend on your preferences. Do you like tantos? Chisel grind? Need the wave? etc etc

Yup, the 8 is one of the best knives on offer from EKI (untill the 12s come back that is)
 
Just pick one. They all are great. I like the 16 for outdoor use, but if you are a patient person and don't mind paying a bit extra, I'd wait for the 12 to resume production. If you can't wait, the 13 is also nice.
 
'8s and '12s are my favs but they are all good FWIW, imho the '7b style blade is the prototypical emerson production & every emerson fan should have at least one of them, in either the SOCFK, CQC7 or HD7 variants.
 
Kinda partial to the 7A! Take a look at the title's here in the forum, it's all about the "7". What's not to love.........
 
My first Emerson was a CQC15. It has the modified tanto tip and the recurve belly of the Commander. Love it. It's been my EDC ever since, although my new Persian perches daily in my right pants pocket and has become my new favorite.
Anyhow, welcome to the addiction!
 
i own quite a few emersons, and i have found the 8 to be the best all around blade shape.

until the 12 comes back, that is....
 
Giggle giggle, I don't think we are helping the OP much. We have recomended just about every modle.. He's probably more undecided now than he was before..
 
Right now I only own two EKI's - both 7B's. I love them both and also feel the 7B is the archetypal EKI along with the Commander series. I should be getting my third Emerson any day now - I ordered a Horseman after so much raving about the blade shape in both it and it's predecessor the CQC-8.

Oh yeah, to answer the question, I would say either a 7B or Commander, depending on your needs and what you like aesthetically. Then you can go from there...:D

Holly crap!!! I might have to take a break from looking at these things! I know I will get one over Christmas but which one is still WAY up in the air. I want a fairly aggressive looking knife as it will be used as an EDC in both the my military as well as off duty time.
 
IMO if you're using it for outdoors/utility type purposes, the CQC7A or the A100 would be the ones to pick
