Hi Everyone,

I traded one of my knives for a customized Emerson cqc7 aw with Kevlar scales and that bullet disc mod. I have no clue how much this thing is worth. It's new. Could anyone give me a ballpark. Thanks.

Custom = made by the man himself
Custom"ized" = altered production knife, by someone else.
Lots of people misuse the terms. The ball park figure would be about $120-$200. Hard to say because no one knows who made the customizations. Some folks do much better work than others.

Value is what a buyer will pay for it. Or what it is worth to you. Looks like a nice customized CQC-7, for what ever value my comment has.

That 7 with the "A" is pretty sought after by itself. I have been looking for that exact knife in Stonewash actually. 200 might be a good starting point. If you listed that thing near 160,i bet it would fly out the door.

Noted about the difference between custom and customized. Thanks for the replies. Not sure I want to sell it yet. It's very well made by a custom knife maker in Canada. He does great work.

Do you have the stock parts for it?
I've found I get better results selling the knife in its original configuration and offering the custom bits separately.

This ^

Configured as it shipped from the factory, the knife is protected by one of the best warranties (and great customer service staff!) in the industry.

Modified by whoever, who knows? I pay a lot less for modified knives. That said, there are lots of people who appreciate customization and will pay more for it. It all depends on who is looking.

If it were me, I'd put the original scales on it and sell the knife and custom scales separately. Both should sell faster, and for more money, than the altered knife.

As Matt said I pay less for modified knives unless it is done by a well respected and known person. I just recently got an a100 for less than $100 because the guy messed with the disk clip and edge angle.

Not trying to pollute the original question, but I would like to make an analogy. I use to have this Brand New Series 70 Colt Govenment Model 1911 in .45 Caliber. I finally got the 1911 fully tricked out by a Great Custom Gunsmith Near my home. Shot IDPA for a couple of years. Did well, and had fun.

Day came I wanted to sell the pistol, and never got near basck with I had in the pistol. As buyers still saw it as a Series 70 Govenment. Had I bought say an Ed Brown, Wison Combat, or other brand of tricked out 1911. I am sure I would have had a b etter return on my initial out lay of money.

Just an observation about customizating, and its resale value.

Good points. I got this for a steal so I am not worried about losing money. Everything can be put back to stock.
