New to folders...looking for good EDC.....

I have narrowed my choices to mainly these two:
Spyderco Native:
http://store.savsonswordsandknives.com/spnablcoed.html

and

Benchmade Mini- Griptilian
http://www.savsonswordsandknives.com/bemita55.html

(Are there any negatives I should know about a black blade vs. a normal one?)

However the Spyderco Delica:
http://www.savsonswordsandknives.com/spdefrnhaple.html
and the Spyderco Endura
http://www.savsonswordsandknives.com/spenfrnhaple.html
often come up as recommendations as good folders for EDC. The Endura seems to big for me for an EDC. And I simply do not like the look of the Delica.

Are there any other folders (under $70) I should like at? And where are good online sites to buy folders? Thanks in advance.

You can not go wrong with any of those choices.

For a place to buy, look at New Graham Knives. One of the best customer services around and friendly people to boot.

Both of those choices are extremely good, it's really up to . Newground has a great selection and should offer the native in plain edge. Although I prefer S30V I dont think you will be able to tell much of a difference if any because VG10 is also very good.

The Native is one of the nicest knives available in that size & price range. Definitely.

Good choice!

Just get one of each like I did, then you just need 4 more for the rest of the week. ;) You can't go wrong with either.

Well, your NEXT folder has to be a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian.:).

In a user knife, a coated blade has the advantage of preventing rust. It will get scratched up over time, but you have to worry about it less. I think satin finishes look nicer, but like the ease of maintenance that a coated blade affords.

The Spyderco Native is sick. Very light and very sharp. The Cara cara was a lot bigger and heavier than I expected. I am disappointed that I can't switch the pocket clip on the Cara cara to fit my left handed needs......

I am having trouble opening these folders quickly (I am used to bali-songs and these are my first folders). Is there any trick to opening folders quickly?

the other problem with Spydies is that they're addictive, the Native and Cara Cara may be your first Spydies, but they certainly won't be your last.....

my suggestion for your next Spyderco product?
the Sharpmaker

having lots of nice, sharp knives is great and all, but you need some way to *keep* them sharp, and the Sharpmaker's one of the best systems out there...

as far as the next Spydie *knife*, may i suggest the Dodo, while you can still get one, they're getting *extremely* hard to find, but they're worth every penny of their $80ish asking price....

you get a razor sharp "Reverse S" Hawkbill-esque blade, nice, grippy G-10 scales, and the Spyderco Ball Bearing lock, one of Spyderco's *strongest*, and in my opinion, coolest, (yes even cooler than the Benchmade Axis lock) locking systems

....and you get to join the *exclusive Cult of the Dodo, c'mon, all the cool kids are doing it, you *DO* want to be cool, don'tcha? ;)

*Exclusive membership requirements, must own at least *one* Dodo....
