Howdy!,
My name is Michael and my friends call me Mic. I'm from Cedar Creek Tx. No not that one, the other one. I've had a hidden love affair with good knives, well built fishing reels, and working hammers my whole adult childhood. My wife just doesnt understand, and I don't care!
My new want to is making my own knives with a forage, anvil and hammer. Just because!
I'm going to be spending a couple of days reading old post from you fellers in a effort to learn.
I do have a question about Eye Brand Knives made in Solingen Germany. I like'em and plan on getting more of them when I can find them. I have one that I feel was burned up in some kind of fire or something and somebody rebuilt and sold to me. The reason I think it burned up is that I can work it on a India Stone then on a finer stone, then on a Arkansas Stone, and finally on some bull hide. This edge can shave the hair on a flies battery sack. I mean sharp! If I cut the nylon strings on a round bale of hay in the pasture, the edge will roll over. I mean you can feel the edge all the way down and it's twisted. I striped some copper wire with it to remove the insulation and the blade chips. I mean it looks like a steak knife that was chewed on by a beaver! What tipped me to thinking this, was how easy it was to polish out the chips. Only a couple of hours, like the steel is soft, real soft!
Does anyone know if I can send this knife back to Eye Brand to have the blade corrected or replaced ?
Hey,
Thanks for letting me join in!
