Hi. This is my first post on this forum and wish greetings to all of you. I've not really been a knife collector at all, just more of a edc light use carrier.
Currently i own a buck prince from 1993, a crkt m1613 from 1998 or so, a full size kabar for out in the woods, and a walmart gerber paraframe1 for heavier box cutting/opening loaning dont care much if i lose it knife.
What knife steel does gerber use for the paraframe? All i can find online says its generic 400 series stainless.
As a general question to talking about the downgrade in steels for crkt knives does anyone know what the timeline was for the downgrades? Another question i have is have they ever made the m1601 with aluminium handles and aus8 steel?
I have an old m1613 with no carson flipper and no lawks i got sometime in 1998 perhaps 1999. Did they even make m1601 at that time? I'm just wondering becuase while the m1613 is nice I've found that for everyday light duty use i just dont need a 3.5 inch blade with serrations but a 3 inch non serrated seems more in line to all i really need.
