Hi all! So after years of carrying a leatherman only I decided it was time to get a real EDC knife. So I did the research and decided that Benchmade was the knifemaker for me and I was going to get either the Griptilian or possibly the Barrage based on which felt best in my hand. I get to my BM dealer this a.m. and made the happy mistake of also trying out the Volli (which was slightly more than I wanted to spend). The Volli instantly felt right in my hand, just perfection really IMO. This is my 1st serious folder and I plan to carry it always, I live in rural Montana so being prepared is a must. They price matched Amazon for me so it was a little less $$ which was awesome. So did I do good or not?

Far as I'm concerned, ya did great! The Volli is one of my fav BMs. It feels good to hold and use, BM does a very good jo on S30V, the blade is thin enough to be a good slicer and still fairly stout, the blade length is just what I like for everyday carry, the AO is fast on my two and has never missed locking up solidly... For me, there's just no downside to the Volli. That's why I have two of them.

That's why it is always nice to be able to physically handle different knives before buying... I always looked at pictures of the Mini Barrage, and thought to myself, those don't even look comfortable.
Well, one day I stopped in at the local pawn shop and they had one in the case. Boy was I wrong. It is VERY comfortable in hand. I must have played with it for 5-6 minutes, and decided that one day I will buy one. Whenever I can quit buying Mini Grips :D

Welcome to Blade forums, and Benchmade...

Welcome. Same here far as not liking a knife and then holding the thing in my hand. The dealer was helpful and let me play some, wound up buying it. (Knife in question was a 950 Rift.)

Post some pictures man! Congrats on finding a knife that fits what you need!

Great purchase. Welcome to the party.
Soon instead of looking for your next knife, you'll be trying to find a way to stop buying your 54th knife :)

Well I exchanged the Volli for a Griptilian. Reason being I just didn't feel comfortable carrying it unlocked in my pocket, and it would be pointless to lock it. So I opted for an un-assisted axis locker. This Griptilian opens just as fast IMO perhaps even faster so I wonder why they even make assisted models now? With the $ I saved I was able to get a Lansky Diamond Sharpening System.

You won't regret it! Griptilians are great knives for EDC. I recieved one for my birthday last year and it quickly became one of my favourite.

I was going to get the Volli....but, I didn't trust the assisted opening in my pocket either. I went with the BM 300 Ball Axis Flipper (the Cabelas exclusive) for my first choice of a real knife. I now have a BM Adamas 275BK on the way.

The assisted opening mechanism has a locking feature.

The Volli is something of the Rodney Dangerfield of Benchmade. It just doesn't get the respect that it deserves. It's not the most photogenic of knives. When I look at pics, it looks like the scales have sharp edges, the blade to handle ratio looks funky. When you get it in your hand it's a whole different story - remarkably so. The scales are very comfortable. The G10 is 3D machined. The way the liners are nested gives it a feeling of being thinner than it is. The high, flat blade grind is pretty. The only drawback is it being assisted - but that's just personal preference, and it's easy enough to deassist.
