Having been a Buck user for many years (more than I am willing to admit), just recently began to actually collect a few Buck knives. The Strider collaboration has grabbed my interest, so I have started to collect these fantastic knives. So far, just have two, a 887SBT and a 889BK. Many more to go from what I see in the online cataloge. One thing I would love for Buck to make (if they don't already), is a 110 variant with thumb studs and liner lock. I think that this would really would put a different slant on a Buck classic.

Hi Richard,

Welcome to the Buck forum....and your new addiction...Buck knives!!!! Buck did make a 110LL that was discontinued due to problems in manufacturing. Each one required a lot of TLC to build and was not a viable..cost effective item to make. If you search the forum you will find information on that knife. They can be found on ebay and other places from time to time.

Welcome to the Buck Forum also.

As JB said, Buck did make that exact knive. And in maybe a few variations, I'm not sure. Nickle Silver Bolsters, thumb stud (whether Buck did the thumb stud or not, I don't know). Green handles, Buck written in fancy script on the tang, with just Buck and USA on this one. And its a drop point blade with no nail nick. Box doesn't have a date on it either.

Someone may have a pic of one up in the pic stickey up top here. Nope,,,,I just scanned through the list. I'll try and get one upin a few days whe the camera returns. They are cool knives, but the linerlock had problems.

Here is a quick scan of the 110LL that is in my collection. If anyone has another version of a 110LL please post the photo.

Just remember Mister Gross..."Join us, it is happier this way"! We here do admit to being addicted but I am not aware of any one seeking a cure...just more Bucks!

all ya has ta do is ask! here we is eager to please!!!

the 110 LL was a 1997 project and it was basicly a hand made knife.
a bean counter at Buck did some math and found that
they lost 30$ on every one they made due to the hand work.
there were two verations of blade made useing the same frame.
the inlays were french green pappka lamatation wood (yes 5 layers)
here are both verations for you to compaire.

enjoy !
dave ( the one WounD to TighT that has to decaff!)

A true thing of beauty. Something to be on the lookout for. Thanks for the info and welcome. Plan to hang around here a bit more in the future.

Personally, I prefer the rock solid traditional Buck locking method for the 110.

But.....one would think there would be considerable demand for a 110 model with a thumb stud for opening.

I'd buy one, that's for sure.

i have not used these, however they feel as rock solid as any of the new users that are out there. some one here got one as a gift and used it tell it fell over board , as i recall they liked the way it ' felt useing ' and realy missed it...
now who was that?
any way for what it is worth ....
you can note that the frame lock in each goes over a differing amount to latch the blade...

Richard Gross,

Run away! Delete this place from your 'favorites' - these folks are Buck-zombies - beware! Seriously, I was happy with my 110, 192, ancient 301, etc... then, several years back - poof, a Ti 110. Oops - Wally World Christmas specials... Joe Blow's Sports/Outdoors has a standard 110 for $.47 less than W-W... gotta get one. Someone has them with turquoise Kydex sheaths - gotta get one. My grandkids want Christmas goodies... sorry, I ordered two 'custom 110's'. It doesn't end... crack is less addictive (... and probably less expensive!).

Of course you know I am not serious... a hearty welcome to a group in which I am a neophyte! The real Buck guru's, aka Buck-Super-Zombies, are as knowledeable as they are helpful and willing to answer your questions. Now, get thee to Buck's 'custom' site and plan your 'special' 110... As far as funding your new obsession, I am reminded of those immortal words from Bud Bundy as he walked behind his dad, Al, whose eyes were glassy and arms were littered with band-aids from 'selling' his blood to raise money for his daughter Kelli's acting lessons, "Don't forget Pop, the brain hides a pint!". There is always more...

Well, I took your advice. Since Sunday is my Birthday (#65), I figured I would celebrate Buck style. Picked up a B111-SP-0 w/elkhorn scales, nickel silver bolsters, # 205/250 (my first LE Buck) and a 880 Strider spear point. Now my question is, especially with the Strider-How in the devel do you carry this beast. I've carried some pretty large knives in my pocket before, but this thing is a monster. Love the AST34 blade. Also, any trick to stretching the leather sheath that comes with the 111? It's kinda funny, that I started with Buck many, many years ago, went to other knives (have quite a few, over 100 different folders and fixed blades) and now, I'm back where it all started. Just cannot wanter too far from home. I guess the prodigal has returned.

Welcome, Richard and happy 'soon to be' 65th! Yes, I imagine the 880 puts a bit of stress on the pocket. Hmmm...perhaps suspenders are inorder? :p

Welcome home O' Prodigal Son... ;)

For my 881 I would use a 110 Genuine Corinthian Cordura sheath. Fits very well and sheeple generally don't think it's a knife on your belt (horizontal carry).
