Hi guys.
I am new to forum and find it very interesting.
I recently bought a Boker Plus Armed Forces Tactical Tanto Fixed Blade for a friend set to be deployed to Afghanistan. I did not get to hold the knife as I bought it in an online auction. Of course my friend (who is very knife savvy, myself, less so) says it is a great knife, thanks etc.
What do you all think of this knife? He told me it is made in China. I thought that Boker was made in Germany so I was a little bummed out. He said that it doesn't matter that the Boker chinese knives are well made.
Any comments?

Böker knives are made in Germany
Böker Arbolito are made in Argentina
Böker Plus are mostly made in China (some in Taiwan and a very small part in various countries).
I'd not be thrilled to buy chinese made knives but most reports say Böker chinese made knives are very good value.

He seems very happy with the knife but I will be more careful in the future.
I have a good many knives but have not invested in learning more about knives. I think this forum will help.

Good Craftsmen/woman, can be found in every country. Boker is a Top knife company. Your friend has a great knife.
 
Hello Evan. I'm new to the Boker forums too. I just wanted to welcome you and tell you I think it's great you supported your Afganistan bound friend. Those guys and gals deserve all the support they can get.
 
My buddy has many knives and doesn't need more from me. I wanted to have a good knife that everytime he uses it he thinks of his friends back home.
He is a vietnam vet and a physician. He is re-enlisting at age 61. He gets a waiver for age as he has about 14 years of service already. So that gets subtracted from max age.
He has some great knives from vietnam era. He started buying then and has not let up!
 
He really is a great person. He is made of steel. He runs through the mountains with a weight vest on as a work out. He lives in Colorado at about 9K altitude. I am sucking wind when I help him walk his dogs!!
