Fell in love the moment i saw the HEST and then i saw the rest of the ESEE line and now i dont see knives the same anymore. Still not sure if my first purchase should be the HEST or the RC-3 tho.

welcome! both the HEST and the ESEE 3 would be great choices. it doesnt matter which one you get first because you will end up with both eventually ;)

very very true i always stay salivating at the photo threads where you guys post your whole collections. I always had lil cheap knives growing up then again i live in the city so there wasn't that much need for batoning or bushcraft quality knives. Im going crazy for the HEST folder to be released to. I'm gonna have to move to the country to put these knives to use lol.

welcome! i like the hest better but i don't have one and i sold the rc-3 so it's purely based on aesthetics at this point.

you don't need to move out to the country to use these knives! check out bear mountain/harriman state park. i hike there all the time. also rescueriley (check out the w&ss sub-section: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=692) and bunch of others from nyc do too. it's only an hour away from the city.

here's a few pics i've taken there this past year.

Skip the three, I think the HEST makes it redundant. Then save up and buy two Junglases (remember you saved money not buying that 3.) Having bought two Junglases you'll wonder, "Why? Why did I get two?" When you mail one to me it will all make sense. Seriously though, great knives, great people, great warranty. And I really do stand behind the recommendation of the HEST and skip the 3. Or get an Izula (I or II) they are sweet knives, don't underrate them.

God bless,
Adam

I'm one of the growing club of HEST zealots. Go for it dude. It's an almost perfect knife.

welcome! I have a HEST and a 5 that I absolutely love I am thinking of adding a junglas at some point when funds become available. I have never handled a ESEE-3 but the HEST is always with me and I never stop find new uses for it. its amazing knife that feels right at home in my hand.

Harlyn, it really does not make any difference which one you pick as your first. Like everyone told me on my first post, you will eventually buy all of them. There is a secret solution Jeff & Mike have put into the handles that once it gets into your blood stream it makes you addicted to them. Welcome aboard, read all you can, you will learn a ton of info from the "veterans" . . . :)
Be safe.

Welcome!

Having started a similar thread and being a first time ESEE buyer myself (just got my 3 today from the knife connection, yippie! Pics to come) Without taking anything away from the 3 but I suggest a HEST. I will be buying one in the very near future. Far too veritile a tool to pass on.

Having done some research on these very boards I am also going to be buying a 6 as well.

Happy hunting and let us know what you choose!

sadly the only knife i can post up is a old cheap balisong i have lying around so as soon as my ESEE collection takes flight pics will be up real fast. I've been eyeballing the Izulas as well. Girlfriend caught me looking at some of your HEST centerfold glamor shots and she even loved it and mentioned it as a Xmas gift which surprised cause she isn't really fond of me with knives. JV3 didn't really see Bear Mountain in that way other than a lake or BBQ spot lol, gives me flashbacks of camp as a kid going on hikes seeing your pics. Thanks for the welcomes to guys.
