Hey guys, I recently tried making a knife and found it a lot of fun. Anyway this seems like a great place to talk to other knife enthusiasts and learn some tips and tricks.

I'm planning to do a stacked leather handle but I'm still trying to figure out the hilt or front guard.

Some of my knives I've acquired over the years.

Anyways hello!

Hello.

Grind that tang so that it is not as wide as the blade and you'll be able to slide your guard and washers right up over it.

There's a book called "How to Make Knives", written by Richard Barney and Robert Loveless. You'll find it easy.

There are also lots of places to get pre-made guards and leather washers. I can't give names because of advertising policy, but just search "knifemaking supplies", you'll find them easy, too.

Welcome! Based on the pictures, I'd say you'll fit in just fine here!

Looking good so far. Are you planning on doing any grinding on the blade or just the edge grind?

Not sure ha ha.... this is the first knife I've ever made so I'm just trying to not screw it up too badly. Lol
