hey fellow bladesman, just signed on for the first time. i have been monitoring for sometime now. i have a 99 comander and because of the tremendous responce about the socfk's i purchased 2 black tanto's #219 & #220. these are super knives for any situation, i have been using a benchmade cqc7 for over a year and love that knife but these socfk knives are awesome. i am curently waiting for my black ti green g-10 cqc7 wave i orderd last week. they say maybe before christmas, i hope...

G'day Staysharp, Welcome to the best forum on the net! These guys are very informative and to top it off they're good blokes too!

How's your Commander holding up? This knife has become my daily carry knife without fail, nothing else comes close.

Cheers

Peter

Welcome, Staysharp! Be sure to check out the "Emerson Gallery" post for lots (and I mean LOTS!) of pictures of Emerson customs. It's a great resource!!

Welcome Staysharp,

Sounds like you have the bug bad - but a great start to a collection of Emersons!!

Watch out for those customs - you still need to eat.

Regards,

Ed

my comander is holding up excellant, the only problem was pivot pin screw was loosening and it needed some locktite. fixed it right up, its acually smoother than my socfk's. these knives (socfk) are very hard to open without messing with the pivot screw. the knife blades sit in the closed position evenly on both sides, so i dont want to fiddle with the screw any. any suggestions................

My experience with Commanders vs SOCFKs is just the opposite. I have a Black-T commander that if the pivot screw is not really tight, the blade rubs the liner. I found a happy medium and lubed the heck out of it with Militec-1, but it is not like my oh-so-smooth SCOFK's and CQC7's. My commanders also have a tendency to exhibit more blade play than the others. Use Militec-1 for your pivots. About 4 treatments and you won't believe how smooth they'll feel.
