Im new to the forums, new to knives in general.

I have a bunch of questions and one major one that I can't seem to find an answer to.

Is there a difference from purchasing a knife from the makers website, lets say spyderco sage for example versus purchasing a spyderco sage amazon. There is a major price difference in the knives. And if there is not a difference why are the prices different? I'm confused to this.

Welcome. The reason for the price difference is the manufacture doesn't want to compete with their own dealers.

is there a benefit in purchasing from the dealer versus amazon?

No and in some cases amazon has better customer service than the manufacturer itself when it comes to problems with a brand new knife.

I would NOT buy knives from amazon.

With amazon you have to look very carefully at the seller because in many cases it is not amazon itself, but an amazon marketplace seller.

There are a LOT of fake spydercos on amazon and eBay. And they are good enough fakes that they come with boxes and papers.

Buy from a reputable authorized retailer. It will be more than those rock bottom crazy low prices you see on amazon, but at least it will be the real thing.

All good suggestions. Amazon may not always be the best, but my experience has always been that they will make things right.
