First post here I'm a long time user of Benchmade knives. I really like them for EDC around the farm. I've recently got a kme knife sharpener and have drawn bigger interest in nicer knives. Is there a real difference between a zt and a hingerer? I've not been able to handle either. I do really like the looks of the xm-18

Welcome to BFC Deereman7 Deereman7 , enjoy your stay and there’s plenty of pics to look at to help you decide which knife will suit your needs.
IMO, some of the older ZT’s are on par with Hinderer,i.e. the 560,550. The last ZT I bought was a 308. But, in all things nothing is as good as the real deal.

Welcome! Get ready to go head first down the rabbit hole!!!! Enjoy!

Both are great- ZT makes a Hinderer model. It’s cheaper and better in My opinion

Welcome to the forum.
We've got a lot of really "sharp" folks in here...
So many knives, and so little time!

Welcome to Bladeforums! Prepare to open your mind and empty your wallet.

I agree, try the ZT first. I like ZT, though to be honest I wasn't a huge fan of the 0561 Hinderer design. Maybe because it was huge. The 0562 is smaller, though I've yet to buy one.

Good luck!

Welcome! :)

ZT and Hinderer both make great knives. Between a gen 6 Hinderer XM-18 3.5 and a ZT 0562, I went with the Hinderer -- but both are excellent. Some of what you pay for with Hinderer is the modularity, but you can also get aftermarket scales and hardware for the 0562 (and other ZTs).
