Hey guys,

I went on a search a few weeks back. I have always wanted a kukri and finally decided that I would get one. I wasn't very fond of the style and feel of the generic ones (Cold Steel) and went on a search to find a uality product, not a $20 peice off ebay. Eventually, I got a link here that said HI made the best kukris. So, after another half hour of searchign, I realized that HI stood for Himalayna Imports and eventually found the site and the shop. I then bought exactly what I was looking for, an 18" Sirupati with bone handle. I got it a few days ago and as per instructions, beath the crap out of it against some wood, not a mark to be found. I do own more expensive knives, but I think this is now the best knife I own. It is one hell of knife.

My first HI should arrive next week!!! Enjoy the knife.

Welcome to the Cantina/Psycho Ward Bandit.:D

Consider the one you got the first among many, like Lay's potato chips you can't buy just one.;)

I have. I've also put potato chip on burgers and chicken/tuna salad sandwiches. Adds some extra flavor and a little "crunch". ;)

Woah guys, slow down. I just bought a nice knife. Let me sit here and enjoy it for a while before I need to buy a new one. :)

BTW - since I started my search and found this forum, I have read back for like months, many of you are familiar to me already. Also, I read about the incredibly unfortunate turn of events in March and April with Bill and Rusty, I was most dissapointed to hear about that since I had just read the entire history of his life and Himalayan Imports.

I do have one small question with this knife... As I sit here, admiring the blade and handle, cutting myself, and making big peices of crao into much smaller peices of crap, I want to understand all the markings. With the blad facing down and the handle to the right, I read the initials "L.B", from the site, I am assuming that would be Bura? And on the other side, I see the initials "U.B", what does that stand for? Also, on the same side near the spine right after the drop I see some strange characters, what do they mean? Thanks guys.

Hi Bandit,

We are not pushing you to buy another khuk. Don't need to. Just predicting. ;)

Best

Bill

I'm glad you got a good blade. Don't worry about the guys talking buying more so soon; just because they were weak is no reason you will be. Actually, it's been prophesized One Will Arrive who has the moral strength of character to only get one HI blade.

Here's a caution though; if you really mean 'bone' and not horn for the handle material, you should know bone will not take the abuse of wood or horn.

If it's horn it'll be almost black.

Bandit.......your khuk was indeed made by bura......L.B. is his signature.......

As for U.B. Its stands for the legacy that Uncle Bill has left for us to enjoy and treasure.........The letters U.B. was Uncle Bill's wish to engrave the khukris with after his passing............

Welcome Bandit5!

Khukuridom is glad to have you... We all love sharp, pointy, shiny things of all types- especially Khukuris of all types, shapes, and sizes... AND not to be narrow minded, we also love swords, farm implements, and all sorts of nice and lethal stuff... :D

So, drag up a rock, make yourself comfortable with your favorite adult beverage, and have fun... The Cantina's always open, and though sometimes raucus, we're all, more or less, civilized... ;)

Take care, have fun, and stay safe...

Carter

Thanks. I appreciate the welcoming. Perhaps I shall make this forum and board a regular place for me. :)
