Hello all, I just found the HI website and am interested in trying one of their blades out. I was wondering, do most people order online, or is there a contact person from HI. Any info would be helpful. thanks JW

Welcome to Bladeforums!

Look over this forum for Deals for (the day) and Inventory Sales. You will see a variety of currently available items at nice prices. Of course, getting to them, you have to swim fast -- there are sharks in those waters! But don't worry, they're chasing down the deals, not the other buyers. :)

Also, most of the regulars here are sort of contact people for HI.
They will gladly help you with any questions about the knives.

Here is my noob tutorial to HI:

1- Look on HI website and past DOTD.
2- Select 2 or 3 models/size that you would like to have.
3- Watch the DOTD and wait for one of the models of step 2 to show.
4- Call or Email Yangdu with the following:
- Full Name
- Payment method
- Shipping Address
- Knife wanted

The email address is: himimp@aol.com.

5- Go back to step 1 (yes you will).

Welcome :)

A warm welcom to both of you! Yes, you will like HI products. Yes, you will buy more than one! :D Our Aunt Yangdu is an absolute delight to work with; you will be most pleased with her service.

Cybrok's advice is sound. :) My advice in addition is that you read the safety thread before using your new treasure! Your fingers (and other body parts) will thank you, oh yeeesss, precious, they will! ;)

Oh yes, one last thing; stay and have fun!

Thanks for all the help guys, I ordered a silver mounted ak online yesterday evening. Looking forward to receiving it.

Thanks for your quick advice a little earlier when I was in the wrong forum. I took your advice and looked a little closer and now, here I am.

I've been wanting a "khuk" for years but was leery of getting one. I guess my sons have decided to buy me one for my Bday so I told them where to look and what one(s) I would like to have. From what I've been reading, I'm thinking the first one is going to get me "hooked" and I'll have to have another one, or two, or.........................

I read the safety tips and found that there's a lot I have to learn about these tools. I want to profusely thank the folks who posted those threads and suggest that they become mandatory reading prior to anyone being allowed to obtain one of these tools. I thought I knew a lot until I read them and I hope to find more threads when I have more time (I really should get to bed, but this is too interesting).

There's a lot of knowledge to be garnered here and I'm definitely going to have to visit here more often.

I have two quick questions of which I have absolutely no knowledge. I may not be on here long enough tonight to see the answers, but if anyone feels like taking the time, I'd really appreciate them emailing me the answers. The questions are: What exactly are the karda and chakma and what are their uses and how do you use them properly. If you wish to respond and have time, my email address is driskill.john@gmail.com

Thanks for your time and let me say that it's a pleasure to be online with a group of folks who are obviously dedicated professionals and purists.

Glad you finally found the HI forum, however I might suggest you repost this in it's own, new thread...
