Well the title kind of says it but I'm relatively new to the kentucky, louisville area and I am wanting and hoping to meet and make some knife maker friends in the area. My name is Matthew but my friends call me Shevy, im kind of a big boy. My user name here is GottMitUns78, it does not mean got mittens :) it is german and it means, god is with us. It is an ode to my great father in law Reignhart who was an old time logger when he was a young man and 78 was my football and rugby number threw school. I am a full time worker, father and partner but my wife has recently been pushing me to get on here and try and meet some people who share my love, fascination and slight obsession with edged items. I suspect she is tired of finding card board knife templates and roughly cut pieces of 5160 laying around the bed room and on the kitchen table. ive had a hard time meeting people outside of work since moving here with 2 babies and everyday life and I need something for me. I want to learn anything and everything that I can about every facet if knife making. I enjoy working with my hands and my body won't let me play rugby anymore so I figured I have nothing to lose. For what it's worth, I'm a big hearted man and my family and friends are what I hold most dear to me. Thank you to everybody for your time, Any of your guidence or direction would be greatly appreciated.
Best Wishes,
Shevy

Mr. Gil Hibben lives close to you. Stop by his shop and offer to buy him coffee. He offers classes, from his website I see that classes are full through October. I would look over his website and see if he can connect you to others who may have time to show you some things. Have fun and be ready to help when there are workshops or hammer ins.
